Welcome to Saint Nicholas Day!
December 6th is the feast day of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of children, which appropriately falls during the Advent season. This feast day is an especially exciting one for children as they count down the days on their Advent calendars in anticipation of Christmas day.
St. Nicholas of Myra is a major saint in many European and Eastern countries, and one of the old Christian traditions surrounding his feast day is for kids to leave their shoes out overnight in front of the fireplace, on the windowsill, or outside their bedroom door so that St. Nicholas can fill them with special fruits, candies, and other small gifts and treats.

Ranking the ACC's bowl games on watchability (Roanoke.com; Bitter)
Now that the ACC's bowl lineup is set, there's nothing like a good ol' ranking of the games in terms of watchability to get you through the week.
These are just my personal opinions. They just so happen to also be correct.

1. Sugar: No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 4 Alabama
Info: Jan. 1, 8:45 p.m., ESPN, in New Orleans
Line: Alabama by 1.5
Why you'll watch: I mean, c'mon. It's Clemson-Alabama III. The Tide got the best of the Tigers two years ago. Clemson returned the favor in last year's title game. It's somewhat refreshing to see that they'll be playing in the semifinals this year just to switch things up in the championship. But these have clearly been the best two programs in the country the last three years. Seeing them duke it out on the field once more is a whole lot more enticing than, say, if Ohio State had gotten into that No. 4 playoff spot, considering the Tigers wiped the floor with the Buckeyes 31-0 in last year's national semifinal.

Here's the construction work that will occur at Syracuse University this Winter Break (DO; Muller)
In the final construction email of 2017, Pete Sala, vice president and chief facilities officer, detailed construction work that will be done for some Syracuse University infrastructure projects this Winter Break.
Here’s what Sala said in the campus-wide email, which he sent Tuesday:

- Huntington Hall: Two restrooms on the third floor of the building will be renovated to create two single-occupancy bathrooms. The project is expected to be completed before the spring semester.
- National Veterans Resource Complex: There will be increased activity around the NVRC construction site before ground is broken on the project in January 2018. The project, at the intersection of South Crouse and Waverly avenues, is expected to be completed in spring 2020.
- Slocum Hall: The university is currently upgrading the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and installing enhanced finishes in the architectural reading room. These improvements are expected to be completed before the start of next semester.
