National Buffet Day is observed annually on January 2. Buffets are a popular choice for many when choosing a destination for eating out.
Buffets are a system of serving meals, where food is placed in a public area to be easily viewed and selected, by people serving themselves. Buffets are useful for feeding large groups of individuals at one time and are offered at a variety of places including hotels, restaurants and conventions.
Originating during the middle of the 16th century, the buffet table comes from the Brannvinsbord – Swedish schnapps (shot of alcoholic beverage) table. The prime of this custom was during the early 18th century and was developed into the more modern buffet around the beginning of the 19th century. It was during the expansion of the railroads throughout Europe that the smorgasbord buffet increased in popularity.

Lets be honest it has been a bit of a rocky tenure in the NFL for former Syracuse football star Amba Etta-Tawo. But the latest news is a huge plus for Etta-Tawo after signing on with the New York Giants.
Big blue is one of the most stable organizations in football. With a lot of uncertainty at the wide receiver position for the Giants, this is great news for Etta-Tawo.
At worst he’ll have a two-time Super Bowl champion throwing him the ball in Eli Manning. While there’s a strong chance the G-Men could use their No. 2 overall pick to draft a talented passer out of the college ranks.

Alabama's defense needed time to rest and a stage on which to shine.
The opportunity emerged after the playoff selection committee slotted Alabama at No. 4 despite no division or league title. Twenty nine days later -- and 37 days after Alabama's last game -- the Tide defense took the field looking fresh, fast and forceful.
In other words, normal again.
By the end of the night, there were no questions about linebacker attrition or a seemingly unremarkable defensive line or the lack of defensive touchdowns, the hallmark of last year's Tide D.
There also were no legitimate questions about Alabama's playoff worthiness. The Tide are headed back to the College Football Playoff title game for the third consecutive year after crushing No. 1 Clemson 24-6 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Jane Marmaduke Woodman: Perhaps the single best meal we had in 2017 was at Bistro Elephant. From the "salad" made with sweet dark cherries and brûléed Brie to the certified angus New York strip, perfectly cooked, tender and covered with an extraordinarily flavorful char, this was a meal worth its hefty price.
Lemongrass (the conjoined other half of Bistro Elephant) has always been known for unusually elegant and delicious desserts. Now that the menu is the same at Lemongrass and Bistro Elephant, those desserts make perfect endings to practically perfect meals. Both of ours were wonderful: an elaborate raspberry tart far more complex than the name implies and a cherry-chocolate sundae worthy of the rest of the menu.
