Credit for the first beverage can goes to the Krueger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virginia. Made of steel and weighing in at almost 4 ounces, these hefty canisters opened with a church key.

With their sharp edges, the pull tabs became the feared litter at beaches, parks, backyards and anywhere beverages were consumed.
* 1975 – Stay Tab- Falls City Brewing Company of Louisville, KY introduces the Stay Tab removing the pull tab’s environmental impact.
FSU football has won 15 conference crows since entering the ACC 26 seasons ago – and here are the reasons why they will add another crown.
It hasn’t been the longest streak in program history, but FSU football has now gone three seasons without bringing home an ACC championship – watching each of the last three years as the Clemson Tigers not only defeated the Seminoles, but went on to play in Charlotte (and Orlando) for a conference crown.
In 2018, the Noles will be starting the Wille Taggart era with a slate of conference games that will be the definition of an uphill struggle – including the annual games with Clemson, Louisville and N.C. State from the Atlantic Division along with the annual showdown against Miami and replacing Duke from last season with Virginia Tech…in the season opener!
No one said it was going to be pretty, but it also isn’t an impossible thought to have when it comes to the Seminoles heading up to Charlotte this year and bringing home another conference championship. In fact, when you look right at it, FSU football has a pretty good chance of winning the ACC Championship this season and here are the top three reasons why it will take place.

Q: This is the earliest the ACC has released its schedule in more than a decade. When did you begin work on this schedule and how was the conference able to put it together so quickly?
A: Actually, it is the first time since 2003 [15 years!] that the schedule has been released as early as January 17, and it has been 17 seasons – 2001 – since it was released earlier.
...our football institutions and... football administrators... [have worked together] to make sure we place our non-conference games in as smart a location as possible to give the ACC the most flexibility to develop the conference schedule.
...We better understand and anticipate ESPN’s needs, our needs and desires, and we’ve had great dialogue with our football coaches and athletic directors about what they want and need out of the schedule. Knowing those priorities allows us to better and more efficiently attack the project.
We were also probably fortunate that this particular season the scheduling stars aligned in terms of the weeks of the requests, our placement of non-conference games, and this season’s game rotation.

Cayuga County resident Gary Cranfield and his girlfriend, Betsy Waterman, enjoy the outdoors and love to go in search of wildlife to take pictures.
The two were out Saturday looking for snowy owls after hearing some might be out on the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario near Oswego. What they ended up getting was mesmerizing – a captivating video and photos of a snowy perched on some ice in a bay and bobbing with the waves.
“There are usually sightings this time of year and historically there have been snowy owls in this place for years and we decided to check it out,” said Cranfield, 69, of Fair Haven.
He declined to give the exact location “out of respect for the bird.”
At first, the couple spotted a snowy owl perched on a post, but it was a long ways off – too far to get a good picture, Cranfield said. Since it was cold, they decided to take a break. When they came back the owl was gone.
