Welcome to Fat Thursday!
Fat Thursday[note 1] is a traditional Christian feast marking the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival. Because Lent is a time of fasting, the next opportunity to feast would not be until Laetare Sunday[1][2], and after that not until Easter. Traditionally it is a day dedicated to eating, when people meet in their homes or cafés with their friends and relatives and eat large quantities of sweets, cakes and other meals usually not eaten during Lent. Among the most popular all-national dishes served on that day are pączki in Poland[3][4] or berliner, fist-sized donuts filled with rose marmalade, and angel wings (faworki), French dough fingers served with powdered sugar.

Ranking the Power 5 conferences after National Signing Day (seccountry.com; Riley)
It’s a question that gets brought up whenever media types discuss College Football Playoff rankings or examine bowl records.Which conference is the best in college football?
After the 2017 season, it’s easy to say the SEC, given the All-SEC national title game, along with Auburn beating both teams. The Big Ten has a case to make, as it went 7-1 in bowl games with the lone loss coming because of Michigan and Jim Harbaugh. The ACC saw one its traditional powers falter, Florida State, and yet there were still two teams alive (Clemson and Miami) for the College Football Playoff in the final week of the regular season.
So with another major checkpoint, National Signing Day, reached in the college football off-season, it’s time to reexamine where each conference ranks in regards to each other. And while these might not mean much now, people will hammer the strength of each conference when it comes time to debate whether or not a team belongs in the College Football Playoff.

Remsen's Erin Hamlin, competing in her fourth Olympic games, will have the honor of carrying the flag for Team USA at Friday's opening ceremonies of the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
Hamlin made history at the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia, becoming the first American to win an Olympic medal in luge singles when she took the bronze.
Hamlin was selected by her fellow Olympians to be Team USA's flag-bearer in PyeongChang.

"It was a pretty big shock, but it is an honor and a priviledge to be recognized by all of Team USA like that," Hamlin said in an interview with NBC's Mike Tirico.
Hamlin, 31, has won two world championships. After clinching her spot on the Olympic team back in November, she announced that she would be retiring at the end of the season.
