Welcome to Buttered Corn Day!
There are six different kinds of maize, or corn, and one of them is sweet corn, the kind that is most often celebrated on National Buttered Corn Day. Corn was first domesticated by Indigenous peoples in southern Mexico thousands of years ago, and more corn is now produced around the world than wheat or rice, although not all of it is used for human consumption. Sweet corn is picked when the kernels are still soft, and it is cooked in many different ways. Most commonly it is boiled or steamed on a stove, roasted or grilled on a grill or in an oven, or microwaved.

Why is Syracuse football QB Eric Dungey so fearless? We went to Oregon to find out (PS; Mink)
Editor's note: Syracuse football quarterback Eric Dungey gave us unprecedented access for a couple days this summer in his hometown in Oregon. This multi-part series explores Dungey's competitiveness, his injury history, his NFL aspirations and his impressions of his successor at QB.
Lake Oswego, Ore. -- Eric Dungey sits on the back of a Super Air Nautique boat, singing along to Bruno Mars on a sweltering, 99-degree July afternoon.
"Want to try this one?" he is asked. "It's a little squirrely."
Dungey sizes up the wake surfboard. A smile curls up his face as he straps on a lifejacket, dives into the river and digs his heels into the board as the boat revs up.
Syracuse football's senior quarterback does not live life with a fear of falling but rather a confidence he can master a board designed to slash through the water, spin and get air. It's the same confidence that allows him to dive and flip over defenders or hurdle through a 6-foot-1 safety -- plays that make the 22-year-old one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the country and cause one to question what in the world he is thinking.
For the past year he has listened to everyone opine on his injury history, worry about his long-term health from concussions, question his future in the NFL and salivate over his competition at quarterback.

What's up 'Cuse Nation!?!? In this show we go ever the 2018 Syracuse football defense. Then, we discuss Dino Babers's stock if he becomes successful with the Orange. Lat's face it, anyone would be lucky to have him and they'd probably be able to pay more.
Syracuse Football: ‘Quest for 6’ (3rd quarter breakdown) (itlh.com; Esden Jr)
Paul A. Esden Sr. continues the journey for the Syracuse football squad known as the ‘quest for six’. Can the Orange get back to a bowl game in 2018?
In the first two articles of this series, Paul A. Esden Sr. took a look at the first six games on the schedule for the Syracuse football squad.
We enter into the third quarter with a record of 5-1 (1-0 in the ACC) based on my predictions. Worst case scenario as this writer sees it we are 4-2.
So close to completing the Quest for 6 you can almost taste that Dr. Pepper and hot dog as we sit in the stands in December (it will be another year or two before we are there in January) rooting on the OITNF as they break our Bowl drought. Not so fast my friends we have another half of a season to work through. Let us begin.
We start off the second half of the year against North Carolina in the Dome for homecoming weekend.
The Tar heels are coming off a sub-par season of their own with a 1-7 ACC conference record and 3-9 overall. If it was not for bad news the Heels would have no news at all.
