Welcome to Northern Hemisphere Hoodie Hoo Day!

The day is celebrated by going outside at noon and yelling "hoodie-hoo". This is done to chase away winter and make way for spring. Although this holiday is specifically for those in the Northern Hemisphere, it can't hurt to go outside and yell "hoodie-hoo" if you live in the Southern Hemisphere as well. Although, if you help speed up the arrival of spring up north, you are only speeding up the arrival of cold weather in your own hemisphere!

Miami Hurricanes QBs tops in the ACC…next to Clemson (caneswarning.com; Rubenstein)

The poor quarterback play from the Miami Hurricanes last season was a big reason they went from 10-3 in 2017 to 7-6 in 2018. Manny Diaz’s goal of upgrading the QB room in the offseason has paid off.

Malik Rosier graduated in December leaving the Miami Hurricanes with three quarterbacks returning for 2019 after the Pinstripe Bowl loss to Wisconsin. When Manny Diaz took over as Head Coach for the retired Mark Richt on December 30 upgrading the QB room was a priority.

Rising Redshirt Sophomore N’Kosi Perry was the only returning QB for Miami at the time Diaz became Head Coach that had experience against an FBS team. Perry’s classmate Cade Weldon and Rising Redshirt Freshman Jarren Williams’ only collegiate experience came in 2018 against FCS opponent Savannah State.

The Hurricanes were able to add Ohio State transfer Tate Martell and incoming Freshman Peyton Matocha from Houston to the 2019 roster. Martell is still trying to gain eligibility for 2019. The man who took Martell’s potential starting job as the Buckeyes QB, Georgia transfer Justin Fields, has gained immediate eligibility.

Martell will be the odds on favorite to start if he gains eligibility. If he does not the competition will be between Perry and Williams.

Rosier endured a lot of criticism during his final two seasons at Miami. He threw for 1,053 yards, completed 52.6 percent of his passing attempts, had six touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Looking ahead at Pitt football in 2019 - The Pitt News (pittnews.com; Nitti)

With sports like basketball, baseball and softball all currently underway, it’s easy to forget about the Pitt football team. Sure, the Panthers still have a while before their season opener against Virginia on Aug. 31, but with National Signing Day in the books and the team 15 days away from spring camp, now is a good time to evaluate the current state of the Panthers.

The 2018 season was a roller coaster for head coach Pat Narduzzi’s team. The Panthers notched their first division title in ACC history, but still finished with a pedestrian 7-7 record. From getting blown out by Penn State and UCF early on, to winning four straight ACC games to clinch the Coastal Division, then losing the final three games of the season by a combined 54-point margin, the season was equal parts joy and disappointment.

Like every offseason, Pitt will suffer from several key departures. The program will lose 19 players to graduation, while adding 20 players from signing day. The most notable departures on offense include leading rushers Darrin Hall and Qadree Ollison, fullback George Aston and offensive linemen Alex Bookser, Connor Dintino, Stefano Millin and Mike Herndon.

All-ACC Georgia Tech Transfer Parker Braun Updates Decision | The Spun (thespun.com; Lyons)

Nice article Dan!

Georgia Tech’s Parker Braun is among the most accomplished players out there on the graduate transfer market. The All-ACC guard has major programs after him.

Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and Texas have all been involved in this new recruitment for Braun, who is prepared to leave Georgia Tech amid serious program upheaval. Other schools have also gotten involved.

Braun now has another SEC power in the running. Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he is working to set up a visit to Auburn.

Braun’s decision to leave after three seasons – the past two of which earned him All-ACC honors – and in the wake of (Geoff) Collins’ hire came to light Jan. 25. He has taken an unofficial visit to Florida (with his younger brother Joshua, a rising high school senior from Live Oak, Fla.) and has an official visit planned for Texas for March 1. Braun said that “we’re still trying to work out something with Ohio State.”

While Braun said that Florida “seemed like a really good match,” he isn’t in a rush. He isn’t to the point where he would call Florida, Texas and Ohio State “finalists.” In fact, he said he was setting up an unofficial visit to Auburn.

ACC Football Rx: HUMOR: Is FSU turning into a basketball school? (RX; HM)

HUMOR: Is FSU turning into a basketball school?

We know the story of FSU: 2013 National Champs in college football... but what do the Noles have to show for it now? Their championship football coach is now at Texas A&M, and their football team was 5-7 in 2018... but Florida State basketball is better than ever!

According to CBS Sports bracketology, right now Florida State projects as a #5 seed. The AP poll has the Seminoles ranked 16th - ahead of such traditional basketball powers as Villanova, Louisville and Maryland!

The hated Florida Gators, winners of back-to-back national championships in basketball in 2006 and 2007, are down. That leaves a vacuum in the Sunshine State that Florida State can step in to fill. Perhaps Seminole fans need not be jealous of the Gators trophy case much longer?

So hoop it up, Seminole fans! Football season is still 6 months (and a starting quarterback) away...

POLL: Will FSU ever become a basketball-first school?

ACC Football Rx: 2019 UNC Football Preview (RX; HM)

From basement to bowl?

That's what two SI.com writers think about the Tar Heels' football prospects (and they aren't alone)...

Which Teams Will Go From the Basement to Bowl Eligibility in 2019?

ROSS DELLENGER: NORTH CAROLINA (2018 RECORD: 2–9)

Mack Brown hasn't coached since 2013 and will turn 68 by the time the season kicks off, but the ACC Coastal Division is there for the taking (as evidenced by last year’s champion, 7–6 Pitt), the schedule is suitable (the Tar Heels play one team that finished in last year’s top 25: Clemson) and Brown's got quite a good history in Chapel Hill (20–3 his last two seasons there in 1996–97). So, y'all jump on the Mack Train now—not for any championships or, even, division titles—but for the ole two-win to six-win turnaround.

SCOOBY AXSON: NORTH CAROLINA (2–9)

UNC does have talent returning with four offensive line starters and a trio of talented running backs. The biggest question is on defense, a unit that gave up 34 points and nearly six yards per play.

The Tar Heels reaching bowl eligibility isn’t all that unrealistic considering the state of the Coastal Division and the 2019 schedule. North Carolina plays four of its first five games at home, and even with Miami, South Carolina and Clemson coming to Chapel Hill in the first month, they should be able to scrounge together six wins.

It was cooked SO well, and was so filling that I made a lunch of it the next day! My boyfriend had the Ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, cooked rare- correctly- and while I wouldn't taste that, he loved it. Each meal came with salad or soup which you can upgrade, as well as warm fresh bread and garlic butter which was so good."

so this says not a decent steak house in most of central ny?

Did NCST not lose their entire offense plus OC and still they are projected tied second in the Atlantic? What does it take for them to have a down year?

Reality? ;)

I believe it is based on Yelp reviews. It does not reflect well on the good people who make Yelp reviews. They couldn't even identify that many of these places named, including the #1 choice, are not steakhouses.
