A new transportation option will soon add a nostalgic touch to daily campus life. This fall, four trolleys purchased by the Division of Business, Finance and Administrative Services will provide transportation on and around campus for the Syracuse University community. The addition of the trolleys will be the latest in a series of improvements taken by Parking and Transit Services to enhance campus transportation options based on feedback from the community. The trolleys will replace van, bus or shuttle vehicles currently operated by Birnie Bus, including the Quad Shuttle, the Warehouse Express, the Late Night Orange Express and the Euclid Shuttle route. “The trolleys will add another bit of Syracuse University spirit on campus,” says Amir Rahnamay-Azar, senior vice president for business, finance and administrative services and chief financial officer. “Our division is committed to continuous improvement, and we’re excited for the trolleys to add to the transportation options for our community.” The specific trolleys chosen were selected based upon their size and accessibility requirements for the routes that they will be servicing, says Rahmin Azria, assistant director of parking and transit services. The new vehicles will seat 16 to 22 passengers and will feature oak interiors and padded seats. The Division of Marketing and Communications is designing the exterior of the trolleys, which will be clad in orange and blue. The trolleys are due to make their debut on campus in November.
