Her mother pushed her in the direction of science and mathematics, in the hope that she wouldn't end up like her erratic poet father. Machines were an early fascination for Ada; she enjoyed learning about inventions of the Industrial Revolution, as well as coming up with designs for steam flying machines and boats. She married William King, who became Earl of Lovelace in 1838. Her official title was Lady Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, but she began being known as Ada Lovelace. Her mentor, Mary Somerville, had introduced her to Charles Babbage in 1833, and they became friends. Babbage had plans for an "Analytical Engine," which combined his "Difference Engine" with a punch card operating system; it had elements of things now used in today's computers. Fascinated by this, Lovelace translated an Italian article on it into English, and expanded the article with Babbage's urging, as he observed she had a deep understanding of the engine. Her piece, titled "Sketch of the Analytical Engine, with Notes from the Translator," included sketched out programs of the engine, and prescient observations of its use. This work is viewed as early computer programming, and because of this, Lovelace is often referred to as the first computer programmer. She even has a programming language, Ada, named after her. SU News Syracuse football’s Alton Robinson a first-round pick in CBS’ mock NFL Draft (PS; Burrows) Alton Robinson is getting some more recognition from the experts. The latest mock 2020 NFL Draft from CBS Sports has the Syracuse football star getting picked at the end of the first round. NFL Draft expert Chris Trapasso predicts the senior edge rusher will land with the Buffalo Bills at the No. 26 overall pick. Here’s more from Trapasso on the pick: The Bills stay local and grab Robinson, an explosive, refined edge rusher to bolster their already strong defense. Trapasso has Robinson currently ranked as the 25th-best prospect for the 2020 NFL Draft and the 4th-best edge rusher. Trapasso released his Big Board last week and says Robinson’s speed and hustle are the big draws. “The Syracuse product from Texas has 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble to begin the year and boasts a lot of speed around the edge, a counter move to the inside, and non-stop hustle,” Trapasso wrote. “If he was a little bendier at the top of his rush, he’d be higher in these rankings.” The analytical experts also love Robinson’s game –– Pro Football Focus ranked the Orange star as the No. 1 edge defender from the ACC last week. ... Babers: Syracuse still trying to get healthy after bye week (DO; Black) Nine days after Syracuse’s (3-2, 0-1 Atlantic Coast) last game, a 41-3 win over Holy Cross, the Orange is still trying to get fully healthy leading up to Thursday’s contest at North Carolina State (3-2, 0-1). SU’s first idle week of the season came at an “interesting” time, head coach Dino Babers said, but the status of usual starters Sam Heckel, Andre Cisco and Ifeatu Melifonwu are still up in the air with three days until the Orange’s matchup against the Wolfpack. “Right now I wouldn’t bet on those guys playing,” Babers said during his press conference on Monday. “I think it’s gonna stay the same.” Heckel started the season-opener at center but played just 38 snaps before leaving due to injury and has yet to return to the field. Cisco, a preseason All-American safety, and Melifonwu, one of SU’s starting cornerbacks, both suffered lower-body injuries against Clemson and have missed the past two games. Antwan Cordy and Scoop Bradshaw have started in their places against Western Michigan and Holy Cross, two Syracuse victories, but the injuries have left Syracuse without two of its best defenders heading into the heart of ACC play. Babers explained that he was still waiting for the final word on some of the injured players, but no matter what SU will be employing the “next man up” attitude they’ve used all season. “[The bye weeks are] coming at a good time for the physical part of it,” Babers said. “It’s a long season and last year, the beauty of it was we got hurt at the right positions where we had a lot of depth. We’re getting hit in some areas that are really affecting our football team.” ... Game Week- Three things to watch when SU Football plays NC State (cnycentral.com; Tamurian & Hauswirth) It's back to action for Syracuse Football on the heels of two straight wins. Now though, it's ACC games the rest of the way and stretches that will make or break the season. Consider in October alone, Syracuse plays NC State, Pittsburgh and Florida State. Three games that can legitimately go either way and can genuinely swing the seasons for all three teams. That said, it's a crucial game with the Orange and Wolfpack Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN. Here are Niko Tamurian and Matt Hauswirth's three things to watch. You can watch our full preview on the Orange Zone at its new time, 7:30 p.m. on Thursday nights on NBC3. ... Syracuse has lingering injuries as it prepares for NC State (AP; Kekis) As Syracuse prepares for its third road game of the season, significant injuries linger despite a bye week. “No change on injuries at all. That happens in football,” coach Dino Babers said Monday. “We need to play with the guys that are capable. The next-man-up attitude is the attitude we’re going to have.” That means safety Andre Cisco, defensive back Ifeatu Melifonwu, defensive lineman McKinley Williams and center Sam Heckel likely won’t be in the lineup Thursday night when the Orange (3-2, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) play at North Carolina State (3-2, 0-1). Cisco and Melifonwu are both sophomores and missed the previous two games, Williams, a senior, has not played this season since hurting a foot in preseason camp and Heckel, a redshirt junior, has an upper body injury and hasn’t played since the season opener. “I wouldn’t bet on those guys playing. I think it’s going to stay the same,” Babers said. “We’re getting hit in some areas that are really affecting our football team. This is where coaches need to adapt, where players need to step up.” ... Bailey Hockman will start at quarterback for NC State against Syracuse (backingthepack.com; Muma) An unsteady quarterback situation could always cycle guys around and around, but it’s possible we’ve seen the last of Matthew McKay under center this season. Bailey Hockman will start against Syracuse on Thursday, and Devin Leary is listed as his backup on the depth chart. Hockman played the majority of the Wolfpack’s game at Florida State after McKay got the hook for ineffectiveness. And now it looks like the coaching staff is moving on completely from McKay, which is understandable. (Though it would still be a good idea to use McKay in goal-to-go situations since designed runs for him in that part of the field have been effective.) Dave Doeren suggested on Monday that Leary could get some reps this week—maybe that means a similar plan to the one they had for Hockman against Ball State. Who knows! All we can say for sure is that the offense is going to start fresh with a different QB this week. Here’s hoping that leads to a boost in the scoring department. ... Doeren looks back at open date, ahead to Syracuse (SI; Friedlander) NC State coach Dave Doeren addressed a number of subjects during his weekly meeting with the media on Monday Here are some highlights from Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren's weekly press conference on Monday, including an injury report on cornerback Taiyon Palmer, running back Ricky Person and left tackle Justin Witt, a look back at how the team spent its week off and what to expect from this Thursday's game against ACC Atlantic rival Syracuse ... ...Syracuse Football: Dino Babers gives surprising injury update (itlh; Esden Jr) Syracuse football head coach Dino Babers gave some surprising injury news during his media appearance. Here are all the details. There was a lot of optimism following the Week 5 Holy Cross game that a lot of injured Syracuse football players would be ready for prime time vs NC State. Dino Babers shut all of that down during his media appearance on Monday: “No changes in our injuries at all. We’re still waiting to see if we can get some guys back. That happens in football and we need to play with the guys that we have. It’s the next man up mentality.” When he was asked a follow-up question about specific guys (Andre Cisco, Ifeatu Melifonwu, etc.): “Not going to talk about any of those guys. I wouldn’t bet on those guys playing, the injury report is going to stay the same.” Finally, he was asked one additional question on starting center Sam Heckel who has been out since the season opener vs Liberty: “You’ll have to talk to the medical people. I’m not going to talk about his business.” ... Syracuse Football: Top 3 keys to the game vs NC State Wolfpack (itlh; Esden Sr) Our Paul A. Esden Sr shares his top three keys to the game for the Syracuse football squad on their road trip to face NC State on Thursday night. So the first part of the season has been like a remake of the Exorcist. On one hand, the Orange is The New Fast goes toe to toe with the perennial No. 1 team in the country, Clemson Tigers. Then last week where the Orange struggles to convert third downs against a mediocre FCS opponent when Syracuse should have been blowing them off the line of scrimmage. Up next this unsettled group heads into the meat of the ACC schedule, which will then reveal the true identity of this team. The good news is the first team-up has had similar struggles with establishing their identity. If it wasn’t for the four points of the compass in Carolina they would not have a winning record. Two of the three NC State wins were against East & West Carolina (which I didn’t know was a school) combined with a win against Ball state not exactly Power 5 teams. On the flip side, they have been beaten soundly by West Virginia and Florida State. The bad news is that the national perception of the Orange football squad is low enough that Syracuse enters the game as a current 4.5 point underdog. Here are my 3 keys to the game: Special teams. NC State has struggled on offense and has had to look for creative ways to win, one of those ways is their special teams with a strong kick returner Thayer Thomas who had a 76-yard punt return against Ball State, this was coupled with a blocked put them in a position to win the game. The Orange special teams will have to come to play. A little bit of the same old same old. Syracuse needs to protect Tommy DeVito. That starts with blocking senior defensive tackle Larrell Murchison who leads the team with sacks, registering 3.5 by himself against Florida State. The Wolf Pack almost had more sacks than points last week, racking up eight sacks. If the offensive line has not taken advantage of the bye week it will be a long night in the Carolinas. ... Paris Ford suspended for first half of Syracuse game (cardiachill.com; Wilson) Pitt defeated Duke 33-30 in a thriller in Durham on Saturday night, but the victory came at a cost, as the team will be missing star safety Paris Ford for the first half of its matchup with Syracuse on Oct. 18. Ford will be serving a half-game suspension after being removed from Saturday’s game following a targeting penalty. The targeting penalty came late in the fourth quarter, with Pitt leading Duke 26-24 and attempting to hold them off. Duke quarterback Quentin Harris found Duke wide receiver Scott Bracey for a gain of nine yards, but Bracey was almost immediately met by Ford after completing the catch. Ford and Bracey’s helmets collided as the safety attempted to tackle him at rib level, leading with his shoulder. However, Bracey lowered his head. The play drew a flag and a review that led to confirmation of the targeting call, and Ford was subsequently ejected. The redshirt sophomore reacted to the call in an animated manner and was escorted off the field. Four plays later, Duke scored on a 44-yard pass from Harris to Deon Jackson, putting Pitt down 30-26. But Pitt would respond with a touchdown drive of its own to win the game in dramatic fashion. ... ACC Power Rankings: Week 6 (shakinthesouithland.com; Goldin) #1 Clemson (5-0, 3-0) (LW:#1) After the three hour stress test that was the Clemson-UNC game, having a bye weekend wasn’t bad. The only downside is that it has given the talking heads more time to ramble on about Clemson’s early season performance. Paul Finebaum is now saying that Ohio State would beat us and it “wouldn’t be close.” Never thought I’d see Pawwwll stanning for the Ohio State University, but here we are. Anyway, Clemson is back in action with a 3:30 game Saturday, hosting Florida State. FSU is playing better, but Clemson could shut a lot of talk up with a blowout win. #2 Notre Dame (4-1, 2-0 vs ACC) (LW:#2) The Irish romped Bowling Green 52-0. ND will now host the real USC Saturday night. #3 Wake Forest (5-0, 1-0) (LW:#3) The Deacs had an open date as well. Wake hosts Louisville on Saturday. #4 Virginia (4-1, 2-1) (LW:#5) Open date for the Wahoos. They return to action Saturday night at Miami. #5 UNC (3-3, 2-2) (LW:T#7) It wasn’t always the prettiest, but the Tar Heels got a 38-22 win at Georgia Tech. The biggest thing for UNC was avoiding the hangover game after the Clemson game, and they were able to do that. UNC will get a well deserved bye week. #6 Pitt (4-2, 1-1) (LW:#9) Pitt came out and punched Duke in the mouth. I mean that in terms of a 23-0 lead, but also a pregame scuffle. Nothing like the bad blood between Pitt and Duke. Pitt proceeded to let Duke come back and almost win before getting a late TD to secure a 33-30 win. What does it all mean? Well, we really have no clue in regards to Pitt. Plus after UCF’s loss to Cincinnati, that win for Pitt is less impressive. The Panthers remain an enigma. Pitt has this weekend off. #7 Duke (3-2, 1-1) (LW:#4) Duke followed their big win over Va Tech with this loss to Pitt. The Coastal looks like it will continue to be a mess. Devils host Georgia Tech this weekend. #8 Syracuse (3-2, 0-1) (LW:#6) ‘Cuse also had a bye week. They’ll have a Thursday night date with NC State #9 Louisville (3-2, 1-1) (LW:#14) For the first time since November 2017, the Louisville Cardinals have won an ACC football game. The Cards outdueled Boston College 41-39. Louisville heads to #19 Wake Forest Saturday night. #10 Florida State (3-2,2-1) (LW:#10) The Noles had the weekend off. They come to Death Valley on Saturday. #11 Boston College (3-3, 1-2) (LW:T#7) Very bad start for Boston College losing to Kansas and Louisville, two of college football’s worst teams last year. Boston College has a week off before facing NC State. #12 NC State (3-2, 0-1) (LW:#11) State was also off. Play Syracuse on Thursday. ... ACC Power Rankings: Week 6 (fromtherumbleseat.com; Gordon) We’re now into the heart of the ACC season and things are starting to shake out a little bit. These rankings are going to start fossilizing a little bit. The top teams were all on bye weeks so there were no big changes up top. 1 - #2 Clemson Tigers (5-0, 3-0) The Tigers had a week to rest after their super close win against North Carolina. Not that they really needed one. They now come back with a home game against Florida State. I expect the Tigers to come back with a vengeance and smoke the Seminoles this week. Last Week: Bye Next Week: Saturday at 3:30 vs. Florida State 2 - #20 Virginia Cavaliers (4-1, 2-0) Virginia also is coming out of a bye. I thought this game would potentially determine the Coastal, but Miami has continued to struggle. Still, a road game on Friday night is a scary place for a ranked favorite. A loss here would bring Virginia back to Earth with the rest of the Coastal. A win and they are in total control. On this bye week I’d hope that Virginia is working on figuring out a running game. You can’t rely on Bryce Perkins all the time. Last Week: Bye Next Week: Friday at 8 at Miami 3 - #19 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (5-0, 2-0) Wake Forest is getting to the part of the season where it’s really impressive to be undefeated. After a bye week the Deacons will welcome Louisville to the Triad. Louisville has looked a lot better in Year 0 than many expected, but this is a game the Deacons should win. This is looking like Wake Forest’s best team in a long time. Last Week: Bye This Week: Saturday at 7:30 vs. Louisville 4 - Pittsburgh Panthers (4-2, 1-1) What a game. Pitt dominated most of this game. They led 26-3 late in the third quarter. Then things changed drastically. Pitt muffed a punt at their own four yard line leading to a quick Blue Devil touchdown. Pitt fumbled on their very next play leading to a Duke short-ish field touchdown (43 yards). Then an interception leading to yet another Duke short field touchdown and the Panthers only lead 26-24. A few failed drives later the Panthers give up a 44 yard passing touchdown to fall down 30-26 with a minute and a half remaining. It’s hard to watch your huge lead evaporate and still play hard and eke out the win, but that’s just what Pitt did. Two defensive penalties and 4 plays later Pitt was in the endzone capping off a game winning drive with just 38 seconds left for Duke to attempt a comeback. A huge win for the Panthers on the road. This was a crazy game featuring 9 turnovers. You know Pitt is happy about winning this one, but they almost certainly feel upset that they let Duke back into the game with dumb mistakes. Pitt’s offense really struggled for most of this game. They returned a interception for a touchdown, had touchdown drives of 19 and 7 yards, and had a couple of field goals off of short fields. The defense held their own and gave them every chance to win this game. Pitt should take their upcoming bye week and focus on getting the offensive line set up. Pitt’s biggest issue is that week 1 loss to Virginia. Given how terrible the Coastal is this year, this team is good enough to win it. Because of that loss they really need a lot of help though. They gotta keep winning AND hope that a couple of teams can knock off the Cavaliers. Last Week: Win 33-30 at Duke Next Week: Bye 5 - North Carolina Tar Heels (3-3, 2-1) For once UNC had a relatively easy game. After 5 weeks of down to the wire craziness the Heels got the relatively comfortable win against the Yellow Jackets. Sam Howell threw for 376 yards and four touchdowns. UNC’s run game was very good, especially with Javonte Williams. The defense shut out GT in the first half. That’s not to say that there weren’t areas of concern. The wide receivers dropped some really easy catches that would have been big plays. The offense kept getting into third and longs (although they seemed to always convert). Georgia Tech in the second half strung together some of their best drives of the season. This team has a shot to win the Coastal, but they had the poor luck to draw Clemson this year. That started them off with 1 loss. The good news is that they get Virginia at home. That could be a huge game in a few weeks if both teams keep it up. For now the Heels get a bye week before heading to VT in what looks like a trickier game than it did last week. Last Week: Win 38-22 at Georgia Tech Next Week: Bye 6 - Florida State Seminoles (3-2, 2-1) Florida State struggled early in the season, but was starting to look better before their bye week. Unfortunately for them they now head to Clemson and Wake Forest in back to back weeks. If they can win one of those games they’d probably be pretty happy. I give them very little chance against Clemson this week. Last Week: Bye This Week: Saturday at 3:30 at Clemson 7 - Duke Blue Devils (3-2, 1-1) I already talked about this game in the Pitt section. Duke has to be upset about the way this game went down. They thought they had it won after things looked hopeless. Like Pitt, Duke’s defense performed fairly well. Four turnovers should have Duke winning the game. But, the offense did not perform at all. Quarterback Quentin Harris had only 165 yards on 18/43 passing, 1 touchdown, and two picks to go along with three fumbles. Their running backs only had 84 yards on 26 carries. This offense needed to do better in a huge home game. Duke gets Georgia Tech at home this week. This should be a game they can win. Last Week: Lose 33-30 vs. Pitt Next Week: Saturday at 12:30 vs. Georgia Tech 8 - Louisville Cardinals (3-2, 1-1) The Cardinals got a huge 41-39 home win this week against Boston College. It wasn’t exceptionally impressive given that BC hasn’t been great and they lost starting quarterback Anthony Brown in the second quarter. But for this Louisville it’s a huge breakthrough. This team was expected to be terrible, but instead they’ve been alright. A huge step up from last year. Both Malik Cunningham and Evan Conley played at quarterback and both did well. Cunningham had a fantastic 288 yards on 13/18 passing as well as 43 yards rushing on just 6 carries. Javian Hawkins had 25 rushes for 172 yards. Turning over the Eagles twice while remaining turnover-less themselves. With this win they remain in contention for a bowl as they head into the difficult portion of their schedule with Wake, Clemson, and Virginia all coming up. Last Week: Win 41-39 vs. Boston College Next Week: Saturday at 7:30 at Wake Forest 9 - Syracuse Orange (3-2, 0-1) On their bye week the Orange move up two spots. I may be punishing other teams a little too hard on this one. I still don’t like what the Orange have done so far this season. Coming off the bye they face off against NC State. The winner will sigh a breath of relief. The loser may start to enter panic mode. Last Week: Bye Next Week: Thursday at 7 at NC State ... ACC power rankings: Is Pittsburgh staging a bid for second straight Coastal title? (usatoday.com; Keepfer) With the top three teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference having open dates last week, there wasn’t much movement in the latest league power rankings, at least among the upper echelon. Surprising upsets by Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Louisville created some movement below -- particularly for Pittsburgh, which suddenly appears to be a contender again in the league’s Coastal Division after winning three straight games by a combined seven points. 1. Clemson (5-0, 3-0 ACC) Last week: 1 The reigning national champs have a couple of impressive streaks they’d like to continue this week against Atlantic Division rival Florida State. Clemson has won 20 consecutive games, which is the nation’s longest active winning streak, and has defeated the Seminoles for four consecutive seasons, becoming the first ACC team to do that. Expect both streaks to continue as the Tigers return to action following an open date. Up next: Saturday vs. Florida State, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC. 2. Wake Forest (5-0, 1-0) Last week: 2 Are Wake Forest and Clemson headed for an Atlantic Division showdown in mid-November? Could be. The Demon Deacons get three of their next four opponents at home, and those four are a combined 4-5 in ACC play. Up next: Saturday vs. Louisville, 7:30 p.m., ACC Network. 3. Virginia (4-1, 2-0) Last week: 3 Virginia is bidding to become the seventh different Coastal Division champion in as many years. The Cavaliers will take another big step toward that goal with a win at Miami. Up next: Friday at Miami (Fla.), 8 p.m., ESPN. 4. North Carolina (3-3, 2-1) Last week: 4 North Carolina’s rebirth under Mack Brown continued last week with a win at Georgia Tech that ended plenty of futility in Atlanta; the Tar Heels had lost in nine of their past 10 trips to Bobby Dodd Stadium. Rookie QB Sam Howell continued his progression by passing for a career-high 376 yards with four touchdowns. Up next: Oct. 19 at Virginia Tech. 5. Florida State (3-2, 2-1) Last week: 7 Don’t look now, but the Seminoles have won three of four and get a shot at No. 2 Clemson this week. Florida State has lost four in a row against Clemson, but this year’s edition appears to be better equipped than the 2018 team that was shelled 59-10 by the Tigers. Up next: Saturday at No. 1 Clemson, 3:30 p.m., ABC 6. Pittsburgh (4-2, 1-1) Last week: 8 Just when one assumes that the Panthers are dead and buried, they come to life with an unexpected victory. The latest came last week at Duke, where Pitt blew a 23-point lead, then scored the winning touchdown with 38 seconds left to top the Blue Devils for the fifth consecutive time. Even better news for Coach Pat Narduzzi’s team? None of the Panthers’ six remaining opponents are better than 3-2. Up next: Oct. 18 at Syracuse. 7. Syracuse (3-2, 0-1) Last week: 6 Following an open date, Syracuse returns with a Thursday night game at North Carolina State, where unpredictability abounds. The Wolfpack have won four of the past five games against Syracuse, but each have been wild, high-scoring affairs. Expect more of the same. Up next: Thursday at North Carolina State, 8 p.m., ESPN. 8. Duke (3-2, 1-1) Last week: 5 Duke just can’t get over the hump. The Blue Devils turned the ball over six times and were unable to overcome Pittsburgh last week, coming out on the short end of a 33-30 verdict. Duke will get back on track Saturday thanks to a trip to Georgia Tech next on the schedule. Up next: Saturday at Georgia Tech, 12:30 p.m., Raycom Sports Network. ... Pitt-Duke Aftermath: Heart Attack Kids (pittsburghsportsnow.com; Steigerwald) It can never be easy. That’s basically the tenet of every Pitt football fan, but it’s truly been hammered home in the last four weeks and last night was no exception. After racing out to a 26-3 lead on the back of an opportunistic defense, the Panthers decided to inject life directly into the Blue Devils. Midway through the seemingly neverending third quarter, disaster struck. A fumble by Paris Ford, a fumble from Dontavious Butler-Jenkins an interception by Kenny Pickett and the game completely turned around. When Duke took the lead with 90 seconds remaining, it seemed like all hope was lost. The Panthers hadn’t been able to move the ball much at all in the second half and were facing the prospect of having to drive 82 yards for a touchdown. Turns out they only needed four plays and 47 seconds. It wasn’t quite a “Pitt Special” but it was an unbelievable individual effort by V’Lique Carter and a great drive engineered by Kenny Pickett and Mark Whipple. THE SPIN MOVE. THE SCORE. NEVER. COUNT. @Pitt_FB. To the 35% of the folks voting in the poll (even though the questions ended up being oddly mixed for the result) I would tip my hat, but I already ate it. This is one of those sorts of analytical articles where there are going to be a few “harshes” to some really wonderful “mellows”. The first reality is that Saturday, the Virginia Tech Hokies showed up to play football against our old rivals the Miami Hurricanes. This is a rivalry that is often dismissed and ignored by the media. Like the ECU thing was “Accidental”, this one is “Much Ignored”. Well, it’s ignored by the sports media that continues to worship at Miami’s throne, but continually writes off the unglamorous and rebuilding Hokies. There isn’t much that will probably go into the books as a turnaround in that attitude. The reality is that Justin Fuente is now parked at .500 against the Hurricanes; both at home and on the road. That number should sit in the laps of all college football analysts. Maybe if it begins to dawn on the Hokie Nation fan base, then we should walk away from the odd shootout at Coral Gables with the notion that we just beat a much more physically talented team with a combination of guile and tenacity. There were some really nice things that happened in the game, and we need to note them, first. Hooker was needed tonic. The Tight Ends finally got their day. Hazelton is back and the Defensive Backs remembered how to ball hawk (which was the real generator of this win). The Positives Let’s give some serious kudos out to a fine young man who made a starting debut into a triumph of patience and quiet confidence. Hendon Hooker wasn’t perfect to many of the folks who concentrate on flash and largely ignore competence. Hendon Hooker was perfect. He was careful about ball placement when passing, and ball control when running. His final stats for the game don’t look like ‘wow’ sort of numbers: (Details available at Yahoo Sports) Hendon Hooker (QBR: 176.8) Attempts: 20 Comp: 10 Yards: 184 Yards per Attempt: 9.3 TD: 3 Interceptions: 0 Sacks: 2 ... A production crew for American High, the Hollywood-backed film studio in Liverpool, N.Y., began setting up in Hanover Square on Monday. No parking will be allowed along the square on E. Genesee St. and E. Water St. as scenes are shot for “The Binge” over the next three days. A security guard for the production said traffic would still be able to flow through when cameras are not rolling. It’s unclear what kind of scene will be shot, but Balloons Over Syracuse owner Jared Martin tells syracuse.com | The Post-Standard that he will be providing a lot of balloons for the production in Hanover Square. “It’s going to be a balloon wonderland,” Martin said. “It should be a lot of fun.” A "No Parking - Temporary Police Order" sign is displayed in Syracuse's Hanover Square where American High is filming a scene for the upcoming Vince Vaughn movie "The Binge" on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019. Vaughn, best known for roles in “Swingers,” “Wedding Crashers” and “Dodgeball,” is expected to be among the cast members filming in Hanover Square. The cast also includes Skyler Gisondo (“Santa Clarita Diet”), Eduardo Franco (“American Vandal”), Dexter Darden (“The Maze Runner”), Zainne Saleh (“The Night Shift”) and Grace Van Dien, the daughter of “Starship Troopers” actor Casper Van Dien. American High founder Jeremy Garelick is directing the movie, which puts a funny twist on the premise of “The Purge." “The Binge,” set in a world where all drugs and alcohol are illegal except one night a year, follows three friends (Gisondo, Darden and Franco) as they turn 18 and are eligible to participate in the Big Binge Party for the first time. “The Binge” is the sixth movie from American High shot in Central New York, including “Sid is Dead," “Holly Slept Over,” “Banana Split,” “Looks That Kill” and “Big Time Adolescence.” The latter, starring Pete Davidson, was recently sold to Hulu for $4 million. ...
