Welcome to National Prime Rib Day!
National Prime Rib Day annually recognizes this special meal favorite on April 27th each year. Sometimes known as the “King of Meats,” Prime Rib is a choice cut from one of the eight prime cuts of beef.
A rubbed-on seasoned and then slow-roasted prime rib will give you a deliciously tender, tasty main course. Find many recipes and helpful “how to cook prime rib” guides on the internet for all to use. Some of the most common seasons used include garlic, salt, pepper, rosemary, onion, oregano, and thyme.
Depending on your preference, you might choose to serve your prime rib with fresh vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, or Brussel sprouts. A variety of potatoes complement prime rib, too. Whether you like mashed, baked, or roasted potatoes, they will pair well with this hearty meal. Add a light salad or pasta dish, too. Don’t forget to serve your favorite wine or beer. Your guests will appreciate it.

3-star WR/TE Morris puts SU in Top 3, talks decision (PS; Bailey)
Landon Morris, like many Class of 2021 recruits, has a decision to make — to wait or to commit?
The coronavirus pandemic has already pushed the NCAA’s dead period through the end of May and there’s no telling how much longer prospects will have to wait before visiting schools again. So Morris, a wide receiver/tight end from Nazareth (La Grange Park, Ill.) Academy who put Syracuse football in his Top 3 on Thursday, is weighing the pros and cons of each choice.
“Right now depending on what happens with the virus, I might commit sooner rather than later,” Morris said via Twitter direct message. “And it will probably be who really wants me and who I feel most comfortable with.”I appreciate all of the schools who have believed in me! I want to thank God
— Landon Morris (@landon_morris81) April 24, 2020
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Morris is rated three stars and the No. 169 wide receiver this cycle by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. He said the Orange is recruiting him as a catch-first tight end, though other programs like Iowa State view him primarily as an outside receiver. Morris listed ISU as well as

ALL LOVE: After being written out of history, Syracuse 8’s forgiveness defines them (DO; Emerman)
Fifty years ago, nine SU football players boycotted spring practices because their demands for equitable treatment weren’t being met by the athletic department and head coach Ben Schwartzwalder. This the final installment of a three-part series tells the stories of the following scholar athletes who risked their futures for what was right: Dana Harrell, John Lobon, Richard Bulls, Duane Walker, John Godbolt, Ron Womack, Clarence McGill, Greg Allen and Alif Muhammad.
Dana Harrell’s voice cracked as he addressed a rise of hatred in his alma mater’s community. At that point, Syracuse had been hit with six reported hate incidents in nine days. Seven more were reported in the next five days, including five more that evening, on Nov. 16.
Students have protested Syracuse University’s response to what grew to be at least 32 hate incidents on and around campus. Harrell, though, was “proud” of SU for wrestling with the issue of racism.
“Syracuse University does not condone racism,” Harrell said. “They do not condone it. They do not ignore racism.”
Fifty years ago, it was Harrell who was provoked by his white teammates wielding a garden hose in a racist altercation, who had to change his natural position because quarterback was deemed a “thinking position,” who filed multiple complaints against head coach Ben Schwartzwalder to the Onondaga County Human Rights Commission.

Syracuse safety Andre Cisco will be a coveted prospect for teams in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Andre Cisco headlines Syracuse football players eligible for 2021 NFL Draft (cnycentral.com; Hauswirth)
With the 2020 NFL Draft officially in the books, it's time to look ahead to 2021.
The Syracuse Orange saw two players get selected on Saturday, starting with Alton Robinson to the Seattle Seahawks and Sterling Hofrichter to the Atlanta Falcons.
Robinson, a three-year starter at defensive end for the Orange, went in the fifth round to help bolster a remodeled Seahawks defense.
Meanwhile, Hofrichter was only of less than a handful of special teamers to be selected in the draft, going in the seventh round to the Falcons.
Four more players signed undrafted free agent deals with respective teams, including Trishton Jackson to the Los Angeles Rams, Kendall Coleman to the Indianapolis Colts, Sean Riley to the New England Patriots and Evan Adams to the Baltimore Ravens.
Robinson's fifth round selection was the highest for an Orange player to be drafted since Jay Bromley went in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
As for 2021, there's one player a lot of league scouts have their eyes on.
Andre Cisco (Jr., S)
The Orange safety is on the fast track to leaving school after his junior season after back-to-back stellar seasons.
What was an All-American season during his freshman campaign, continued in 2019 where Cisco intercepted five passes while recording 65 tackles on the campaign.
In total, the Long Island native has 12 interceptions through two seasons, catching the attention of NFL scouts across the country.
If his junior season is anything like the first two, Cisco will surely land in the first or second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
As a matter of fact, 247 Sports has Cisco going 30th overall to the New Orleans Saints in its 2021 mock draft board.
After Cisco, there's no certainty any Syracuse player will hear their name called in next year's draft.
However, as we saw with Joe Burrow this past season, players can come out of nowhere and land in the national spotlight with the blink of an eye.
With that said, below are Syracuse players that could burst onto the scene in 2020.

Teel: ACC commissioner Swofford awaits 'some type of normalcy' (roanoke.com; Teel)
Amid the most challenging sports issues of our time, ACC commissioner John Swofford on Friday offered financial insight, long-term patience and a home-movie recommendation.
During a 55-minute interview with The Times-Dispatch from his Greensboro, North Carolina, home, Swofford said:
- The conference’s monetary distributions to member schools for fiscal 2019-20 will be about 5% less than projected.
- With or without fans, college football could start on time, a month or two late, as late as 2021 or not at all, the latter a “dire” consequence economically for intercollegiate athletics.
- While peer conferences, the NCAA, ESPN, scores of athletic departments and universities and nonsports businesses have furloughed/terminated employees and/or cut salaries and expenses, the ACC has yet to take any such measures.
“Unfortunately,” he said, “right now there are a lot more questions than there are answers.”

Clemson football and ACC not as far behind as pundits think (rubbingtherock.com; Benedict)
for gbo
Clemson football was able to add seven more players to NFL rosters after the 2020 NFL draft.
Throughout college football season, you cannot go a Saturday without hearing how bad the ACC is because of how dominant Clemson football has become. Many pundits continue to talk about how easy Clemson has it when getting to the college football playoff.
Over the weekend, just seven of the 27 players drafted from the ACC played college football at Clemson. No one talks about how easy Ohio State has it or how easy Oklahoma has it.
The Big Ten had 48 draft picks over the weekend, 20 of them coming from Ohio State and Michigan. The Big 12 had 21 of them with TCU and Baylor leading the way in the number of draft picks. Sure, the SEC had 63 total draftees, but nearly one in five draftees came from conference champion LSU, while only in 4 ACC draftees came from Clemson.
No one is saying that the SEC isn’t good, of course they are, but so is the ACC. Lamar Jackson, the current 22-year-old NFL MVP, is a former ACC player of the year and Heisman Trophy winner.
A guy like Joe Burrow got a huge bump after spending a year in the SEC, but a never seen before type player like Isaiah Simmons has NFL head coaches taking shots at him and his skill level. When you look at the number of players LSU had drafted in 2020, any quarterback would have run the table with them, even a current backup ACC quarterback.
All in all, it was a great weekend for the seven Clemson football alumnus that were able to have their names called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and a great weekend for the ACC football conference.

The full list of ACC players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft (247sports.com; Straka)
The 2020 NFL Draft has come and gone, with this year's draft being held in a full-virtual format. As is the case every year, the three-day NFL draft comes as a time in which tons of prospects hope to have their professional football dreams realized. Of course, only 255 of those with their eyes on the NFL heard their name called during the event, including a total of 27 players from colleges in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The 27 players drafted out of the ACC ranked fourth overall from any single conference in this year's draft and was one less from the conference from a year ago, when 28 ACC players heard their names called in the 2019 NFL Draft. And that was just a year after the conference produced 45 draft picks in 2018. The SEC, to hardly anyone's surprise, dominated the event for another year with 63 players drafted, followed by the Big Ten at 48 and the Pac-12 at 32 ahead of the ACC.
The ACC can thank the five-time defending conference champion Clemson Tigers, too, for it reaching the mark that it did, with seven Clemson players selected in the 2020 draft. No other ACC school other than Miami (4) had more than two players drafted.

23. New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
22. Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers
21. Missouri Tigers vs. Kansas Jayhawks
20. Florida State vs. Miami
19. UCLA Bruins vs. USC TrojansThis in-state rivalry was born predominantly on the football field. Each program shares a rich history of winning at the highest level. This became especially true starting in the 1980’s. Duly, we’ve got a de facto geographical spat built in with the northern Florida city of Tallahassee against the south lying hamlet of Miami. Additionally, each team fights fiercely with one another for recruits in the talent-rich region. The Hurricanes lead the overall football series 33-30.
18. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Did you notice a problem there? The highest pick from the Atlantic Division was #8; the highest pick from the Coastal division was #101. There were 7 players from the Atlantic and 3 players from Notre Dame drafted before the first Coastal player was selected... and while I'm proud that player was a Hokie, 101st just ain't gonna cut it!
I know, it's all about Clemson (it just about is, honestly), but even if we take the Tigers out of the equation it's still 3 Atlantic division players before the first Coastal player, and a difference of #11 vs. #101.
Total players from each division: 16 Atlantic vs. 11 Coastal. If you remove the 7 Clemson draftees it becomes 9 Atlantic vs. 11 Coastal -- but the Atlantic players still were taken earlier (only the one VT player from the Coastal in the first 3 rounds).
While we're at it, now might be a good time for me to mention how the Atlantic division leads the ACC Championship 11 wins to just 4 for the Coastal... that includes 9 in a row for the Atlantic!
Rx: ACC -- fix the stinkin' divisions! The Coastal division is too weak!

Cuomo: CNY’s ‘OK’ coronavirus numbers may not be enough for early reopening PS; Dowty)
Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday cautioned Central New Yorkers that the region’s relatively low coronavirus numbers to date may not be enough to reopen the economy far ahead of Downstate.
For now, the entire state remains shut down to non-essential activity through at least May 15.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has expressed optimism that local infection rates provided a persuasive argument to reopen on our own timeline, perhaps even early.
But Cuomo said that the success of the region has to be considered in context with the restrictions on the state — and the greater region — as a whole.
“You can look at one region, the North Country, Central New York, and say, ‘Well, on our numbers, we are OK,'” Cuomo said. “OK, on your numbers as a region."
“But,” Cuomo continued, "people have cars, people are mobile, people have been cooped up, and whatever you do, you could trigger a reaction in that tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).
