The breakfast cereal brand Special K created National Weigh-In Day with the objective of changing the way women thought and talked about weight loss. Special K doesn't want women to think about numbers when stepping on a scale, but instead, wants them to imagine what they will gain emotionally from losing weight. It wants them to focus on the progress they will make in the coming year and the accomplishments they foresee attaining. Personalized meal plans, tracking tools, and support from others all assist those working to lose weight to achieve their goals. With the launch of National Weigh-In Day in 2012, Special K's website was equipped with weight tracking tools, a location to design a weight-loss plan, and a spot where an online weight loss community could gather. It doesn't appear that the website still includes these things, and the official role Special K had with the day appears to have receded. Nonetheless, National Weigh-In Day continues on, with those observing it setting weight loss goals and working to achieve them. SU News Syracuse Football: My 2022 predictions (some bold) for the Orange (itlh; Fiello) Happy New Year everyone and I wish you a happy 2022. 2021 was not my favorite year but by the time you read this, it will be history and time to focus on the present and future. And while I know that when it pertains to Syracuse football, many will look at the 2021 season and be skeptical and I get it, BUT I am looking at 2022 filled with optimism and excitement. Syracuse football struggled and I understand that but I also see many key impact players returning along with some new hires in the postseason I think were home runs. You have an All-American running back returning in Sean Tucker, possible NFL prospects Mikel Jones, Duce Chestnut and Garrett Williams as well as an experienced offensive line and another season under a very effective defense. I am genuinely excited for the 2022 Syracuse football season and the possibilities. So with that said, I thought I would share predictions I feel could happen. Some are things I think should happen, some I would like to happen and some maybe are just a bit fun. Here is my list of predictions for the 2022 Syracuse football season: Sean Tucker will get a HUGE Heisman campaign Syracuse football will play in the Fenway Bowl The Orange will beat Clemson and Pitt on the road Syracuse vs Wagner Dome Game is Dollar Day ($1 dome dogs, $1 sodas and $5 dome foams) ... Sep 18, 2021; Syracuse, New York, USA; Syracuse Orange defensive lineman Cody Roscoe (18) sacks Albany Great Danes quarterback Jeff Undercuffler (13) during the second half at the Carrier Dome. Mandatory Credit: Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports Syracuse Recruiting Roundup: Isaiah Johnson, JD DiRenzo, Tapuvae Amaama - The Juice Online (the juice; Auger) The Syracuse football program has made plenty of news off the field recently. And much of it has the potential to positively impact recruiting. Offensive Injections Dino Babers hired a pair of former Virginia coaches to revamp the offense, specifically get the passing game going. Robert Anae and Jason Beck were hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, respectively. Both coaches were at the helm of Virginia’s lethal aerial attack this past season. As much as the Orange’s ground game dominated opponents, the passing game struggled mightily. Optimism exists around the program and the fanbase that Anae, and especially Beck, can morph Garrett Shrader into a dual-threat quarterback. Syracuse needs to be able to strike through the air as quickly as they can on the ground to compete in a loaded ACC Atlantic next season. Who Says You Can’t Go Home? For a team that has seen its share of players enter the transfer portal, Syracuse has received plenty of positive news regarding who’s coming back. Garrett Williams recently announced that he will be returning next season. Williams burst onto the scene two seasons ago with a sensational year at cornerback as a redshirt freshman. He was solid once again this year as the leader of the secondary. With his return, Syracuse will have two of the most talented starting corners in the entire ACC next year in Williams and Duce Chestnut. Williams’ joins linebacker Mikel Jones in opting to return to lead what should be a very good Orange defense. More Transfer Portal Help? Jared Verse is one name Orange fans have been keeping an eye on in this brave new world of the Transfer Portal Giveth and the Transfer Portal Takeeth. Verse is the defensive end standout from Albany who got an up close and personal look at the Orange this season on the field and when he visited them after the season. The No. 6-ranked player in the 247Sports portal rankings would be a major score for Syracuse. The Orange loses all three starters along the defensive line in addition to Curtis Harper who announced his transfer to Akron. Verse has received plenty of high-end interest. Tennessee, Miami, and Florida State seem to have the inside track though. Chris Hummer of 247Sports reports that Verse could announce his destination in the next few days. ... Rx: Notre Dame NY6 Bowl Drought (RX; HM) [HEADING=2]Rx: Notre Dame NY6 Bowl Drought[/HEADING] The 2021-22 Fiesta Bowl was the first time in a long time that the Irish were actually favoredto win a New Year's Six Bowl. That's right, the SEC has four (Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Kentucky) and so does the ACC (Pitt, Wake, NC State, and Clemson). In fact, the Big Ten also has four (Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan St, and Iowa). The Big XII has three (Baylor, Oklahoma St, and Oklahoma), but is about to add one more (Cincinnati; of course, they'll also lose one). Notre Dame is in there, too. The poor Pac-12 has just two top 20 teams (Utah and Oregon). What about the next 20? For this, I took the next 20 power five teams (plus the four teams which have accepted invitations to join the Big XII):

Rank School Conf. W-L Index

Houston Amer. 12-2 36.07

Texas A&M SEC 8-4 35.49

Arkansas SEC 9-4 35.32

Wisconsin B1G 9-4 35.13

Penn St. B1G 7-6 32.34

Minnesota B1G 9-4 32.15

Purdue B1G 9-4 29.87

Mississippi St. SEC 7-7 29.84

UCLA Pac12 8-4 29.45

Kansas St. XII 7-5 23.56

Iowa St. XII 7-6 23.52

Auburn SEC 6-7 23.44

LSU SEC 6-6 23.43

Miami (FL) ACC 7-5 23.38

Tennessee SEC 7-6 23.07

Louisville ACC 6-7 23.04

Texas Tech XII 7-6 22.94

Texas XII 5-7 22.68

Maryland B1G 7-6 22.59

Virginia ACC 6-6 22.19

Here's where the 2021 versions of the SEC and ACC diverged. Then Marcus Freeman’s debut was spoiled by a second-half collapse. Life comes at you fast. Marcus Freeman can attest to that. One day, you’re an up-and-coming defensive coordinator. The next day you’re the head coach of one of the blue blood programs in college football. One quarter, you have a 21-point lead in the Fiesta Bowl. The next, you’ve blown it and fall to Oklahoma State 37-35. Freeman was taught a harsh lesson to start 2022, but Notre Dame fans seemed willing to let him work through some growing pains. [HEADING=1]Notre Dame football fans react to Marcus Freeman’s debut[/HEADING] ... 5 College Football teams headed for a hefty drop in 2022 (saturdayblitz.com; Lloyd) Even as early as right now, college football teams are capable of indicating a rise or fall in their performances next season. Here are five that fall into the latter. Whether it is because of the loss of a player, the loss of a coach, or their current showing merely being a fluke, there are multiple college football teams that are bound to take a bit of a tumble between now and the 2022-23 season. Now just because teams are on this list does not mean that they are set to suck next year. Rather, they are just expected to fall some in regards to the overall quality of performance. In fact, all of the following names being in the rankings next season would not be at all surprising. With that said, here are five college football teams (in no particular order) that are indicating a hefty drop being in store for them in 2022. [HEADING=1]#5: Oregon Ducks[/HEADING] Oregon appeared to be somewhat of a “paper tiger” this season, only managing to snatch one statement win early in its 2021 run. Since then, the Ducks have struggled with the weak and been beaten up by the decent. Combine all of the recent struggles with the departure of head coach Mario Cristobal, and there are very few positives for Oregon fans to look forward to. And fellow Pac-12 powers most likely won’t be willing to wait on the Ducks, either. New head coach Dan Lanning feels like a good fit for the program, but he shouldn’t be expected to cement a respectable status right off the bat, especially considering his lack of experience at the HC position up until now. The Ducks should not be written off entirely, though, as the Pac-12 is still very much winnable (especially in the North division). But, if Oregon was to finish this next season barely ranked, it would not be a total shock. [HEADING=1]#4: Oklahoma Sooners[/HEADING] The Sooners were able to conclude this current college football season on a good note, as former head coach Bob Stoops came in and won them the Alamo Bowl over the aforementioned Oregon Ducks. But unfortunately, Stoops wasn’t there to stay. Instead, Brent Venables will be the new OU head coach, which was also an impressive hire. However, that does not mean that success will come overnight, even when returning to a program of OU’s typical standard. Venables has never held a head coaching job before, and this is his first gig outside of Clemson in just about a decade. Not only that, but multiple Big 12 teams have shown promise for the near future. Let’s just hope that Venables finds whatever solidity he can before the Sooners make the transition to the SEC. [HEADING=1]#3: Pittsburgh Panthers[/HEADING] This one is pretty straightforward. Pittsburgh has had a very strong 2021 showing, headlined by winning the ACC for the first time ever. They were far from perfect in the process, though, despite having a Heisman-caliber quarterback in Kenny Pickett leading the way. Now Pickett is heading for the NFL, the ACC’s Coastal division is on the come-up, and Clemson is looking to prove that it isn’t going anywhere. In other words, Pitt will have even more obstacles next year than it had this one. But through it all, the Panthers should still remain a formidable name in the Atlantic Coast Conference, most namely with head coach Pat Narduzzi and star wide receiver Jordan Addison. ... Other "Pepper: Ricochet" actress, creator, director and executive producer Caris Vujcec is a graduate of Liverpool High School and Syracuse University. ‘Law & Order’ actress from Syracuse finds global acclaim with new project (PS; $; Herbert) An actress from Syracuse has stepped into a new role that’s earning her global acclaim. Caris Vujcec, perhaps best known for her recurring role as Detective Louise Campesi on “Law & Order,” is the creator, director, executive producer and star of “Pepper: Ricochet,” a new spy thriller centered on a female-sexy-badass-with-a-conscience. It’s the latest chapter in the digital series “The Pepper Project,” which has received more than 40 international awards and nominations. Vujcec, whose credits include movies (“P.S. I Love You”), television (“Bull,” “Unforgettable”), video games (”Grand Theft Auto V”) and Broadway shows, first launched “Pepper” in 2015. She plays the lead character, a former CIA super-agent who’s challenged with a solving series of increasingly dangerous puzzles to find her missing sister while confronting volatile characters, including friends and villains. Vujcec said she’s a fan of espionage stories like James Bond movies and wanted to write something that she could play and relate to personally. “I wanted to create something that I could have fun doing,” she said. “I grew up in the era of the Russian-U.S. Cold War, spies, and... air raid drills.” “It was just terrifying, but it got me interested in what was going on in those spaces.” Vujcec is a 1984 graduate of Liverpool High School who studied public relations and drama at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School and received a Master of Fine Arts in acting and directing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She lived in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles before settling in New York City to focus on acting. ...
