Staff Picks: Syracuse vs Pittsburgh (PS; Staff)
BRENT AXE
Pittsburgh 28, Syracuse 17
Pittsburgh has scored 111 points in their last three games and lost. The reason? Well, to say their defense has been bad would be kind. Is this just what the Orange offense is looking for, especially coming off a bye week, to revive itself? Perhaps. But it won't be enough to keep pace with James Connor and company.

The Dome Isn't NFL-Ready. Does That Matter? (TNIAAM; Keeley)
We found out Thursday that the NFL wouldn't even look in the direction of the Carrier Dome as a replacement for the Bills-Jets game, allegedly because it's not up to snuff. The question now, is...is that proof the Dome needs to be replaced or is just the obvious truth?
When news broke that the Buffalo Bills - New York Jets game this weekend would have to be moved out of snowy Buffalo, we had a lot of fun wondering whether or not the NFL would decide to hold the game in the Carrier Dome (on Monday since there's a giant ice rink in there Saturday).

Doug Flutie Remembers the 'Damn Carrier Dome' (TNIAAM; Keeley)
Doug Flutie likes the renewed rivalry between Syracuse and Boston College, even if he hated playing in the Carrier Dome.
Doug Flutie was interviewed by our "friends" at BC Interruption and part of the discussion dealt with the BC's rivalries. Specifically, how does the Heisman Trophy winner feel about the Syracuse Orange and Boston College Eagles being put together as the annual Thanksgiving weekend season-ender for the foreseeable future.
Turns out, he's a big believer in the #OrangeEagle Rivalry:
BCI: 30th anniversary of BC-Miami, but due to ACC divisional alignment, those two schools only play once every six years or so. But the ACC has set up a season-ending rivalry weekend that includes BC-Syracuse over Thanksgiving weekend. Do you like the ACC's season ending rivalry setup with a mix of ACC-SEC rivalries and intra-ACC games?

SU Releases Injury Report Ahead of Pitt Game (DO; D'Abbraccio)
Syracuse released its weekly injury report Thursday night, two days before the Orange (3-7, 1-5 Atlantic Coast) takes on Pittsburgh (4-6, 2-4) at 3:30 p.m. at Heinz Field. Ten players have been ruled out — one fewer than Syracuse’s season-high total, set against Duke on Nov. 8.
Listed as out for this weekend are: linebackers Luke Arciniega and Marqez Hodge, wide receivers Ashton Broyld, Brisly Estime and Troy Green, tight end Jacob Green, cornerback Wayne Morgan and nose tackles Wayne Williams and John Raymon.
SU quarterback Terrel Hunt, as head coach Scott Shafer said in his Thursday morning press conference, will not play again this season.

Rochester Native Alex Officer Thriving in Pittsburgh (DO; Raigrodski)
Alex Officer stood on the sidelines in shock as he watched one of the leaders on his football team get carried off the field with what appeared to be a serious injury.
The injured player, junior Artie Rowell, had started every single game at center the year prior. In the middle of the second game of the season, it was now up to Officer, a redshirt freshman, and sophomore Gabe Roberts to replace one of the most important players on Pittsburgh’s (4-6, 2-4 Atlantic Coast) team.
Eventually Officer was able to stand out over Roberts and win the job, helping replace Rowell to anchor a line that powers and opens hole for the third-leading rusher in the NCAA in Pitt’s James Connor. This weekend, the Rochester native will get to showcase the strides he has made as the starting center this season against Syracuse (3-7, 1-5), a team he rooted for as a child.
