School quarterback Jacob Hallenbeck visited Syracuse for the third time in less than a year on Sunday, touring the football facilities, watching practice in the Ensley Athletic Center and sitting down with three SU coaches, including offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tim Lester. Hallenbeck enjoyed the visit and was told by Lester that he'll be extended a scholarship offer if one of the quarterbacks SU has offered commits to another program. The Orange has offered three quarterbacks thus far in the 2016 cycle: New Jersey priority target Anthony Brown, local Jamesville-DeWitt product Jack Brotzki and Saline (Mich.) High School's Josh Jackson. "They said I'll be next in line," Hallenbeck said. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Hallenbeck camped at SU last summer before visiting for the Orange's 34-20 loss to Maryland on Sept. 20. He also chatted with head coach Scott Shafer and defensive coordinator/primary recruiter Chuck Bullough on the visit, and is planning to throw in front of Lester later this spring. "I just saw how well managed the practice was, how uptempo it was and how everyone had a job to be doing," Hallenbeck said. ... Hayes McGinley, 20, was arrested about 11 p.m. March 14 in the 100 block Marshall St., Syracuse, city police Lt. Eric Carr said in a news release. McGinley was accused of punching a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman in the face, the release said. The woman had a bloody lip; the man did not complain of any injury, police said. Here's what police say happened: McGinley tried to get into the woman's vehicle, but the 29-year-old man tried to stop him and get him away from the woman's vehicle. McGinley then punched the man in the face. The woman then got into an argument with McGinley. McGinley pushed the woman; the woman punched McGinley in the face and McGinley then punched her in the face. The woman was not charged, Carr said. McGinley was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, a violation. He was then sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center because he was intoxicated, Carr said. McGinley was arraigned the following day. McGinley is no longer in jail, records show. ...[/I] [/QUOTE]
