2016 NJ WR Sadiq Palmer Verbals to Syracuse (TNIAAM; Keeley)
Red Bank Regional high school wide receiver Sadiq Palmer didn't need a lot of time to think about after the Syracuse Orange football program offered him a 2016 scholarship on Friday. Come Saturday, he verbally-committed to play for SU.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound New Jersey recruit joins DE Cam DeGeorge in the Class of 2016. He's tall and speedy and exactly the kind of receiver Shafer has been looking for.
Syracuse is Palmer's first offer, though his uncle doesn't expect the wideout to waver if other offers come in.
"One thing I know about my nephew is that he's a man of his word. A man of integrity. The fact that he was offered humbled him. He's very appreciative of it. If you know anything about Sadiq, he's a wonderful young man."
According to CuseNation, he's also receiving interest from Rutgers and Old Dominion. Palmer is also good friends with three-star QB recruit Anthony Brown, whom the Orange are also recruiting.
The lead recruiter was of course Bobby Acosta, who runs NJ for the Orange. While he can't comment directly, his tweet in the seconds after the news was announced said it all.

ACC QBs to Watch in 2014-15 (orlandosentinel.com; Murschel)
Quarterback is a crucial component to a football team’s success. The ACC has a bevy of talented signal-callers returning this season along with some new faces and others whom fans can expect to hear a lot about in 2015.
Jacoby Brissett, NC State: After sitting out a year following his transfer from Florida, Brissett earned the starting job in 2014, passing for 2,606 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading the Wolfpack to an 8-win season. A senior, Brissett is one of the most experienced quarterbacks returning to the league in 2015 and headlines a group of nine returning starters on offense for NC State.

2015 NFL Draft Player Profiles: Syracuse S Durell Eskridge (steelersdepot.com; Nicolaou)
As we delve further into the Pittsburgh Steelers offseason, our attention has begun to shift towards the draft. Like we’ve done all offseason; these reports will cover the prospects of the 2015 NFL Draft, placing an emphasis on those who could help the Steelers the most.
Both safety positions have question marks attached and there is no question that the Steelers need to upgrade their secondary. Today, we look at versatile safety Durell Eskridge #3 – Durell Eskridge/ S Syracuse: 6027, 208lbs
The Good
Long, lengthy build – could grow into frame and add muscle
Plays fast and physical
Doesn’t over run players, stays in front
Plus athleticism
Plays perimeter run well, takes good angles
Great route recognition, shows flashes of ability to diagnose and react to plays quickly
Tracks ball well downfield
Played both free and strong safety
Takes sharp angles
The Bad
Needs to bulk up, add strength
Has trouble shedding blocks
Tackling needs improves, poor technique at times – needs to not duck his head while tackling
Needs a quicker twitch, slow to react

Quinta Funderburk to Michigan? (gbwolverine.com; Cuff)
The Michigan Spring Game showed us the team had a lot to be excited about and a lot to improve on. The biggest concern from the game was the play of the receivers. Amara Darboh looked great and Jehu Chesson and Freddy Canteen looked decent, but overall there wasn’t much to get excited about. This has led to a lot of speculation and rumors that a couple more graduate transfers could be added. We talked about one rumored transfer last week in Devin Lucien, and another name that has come up is Quinta Funderburk.
Funderburk was a four star recruit in 2011, but has had a very disappointing college football career. He started at Arkansas but never saw the field, and transferred after the Bobby Petrino scandal. He went to Syracuse where he was expected to be an impact player, but instead he again disappointed. In two years at Syracuse he compiled just three receptions for 50 yards. He has all the talent in the world, but for some reason he hasn’t been able to find any success.
Back in 2011 Michigan was one of the schools that Funderburk considered attending so there is a little bit of a connection already. The 6-foot-4, 201 pound receiver has all the measurables. He has great size, speed, and the ability to make big catches. The question mark is why he wasn’t able to see the field at Syracuse. Michigan has a great coaching staff that could work with him, but it may not be worth the scholarship to take that risk.

CNS Set to Hire Henninger's Dave Kline as Northstars Football Coach (PS; Webb)
Henninger High School football coach Dave Kline is expected to become the new football coach at Cicero-North Syracuse.
The North Syracuse Central School District is set to consider and likely approve his appointment as head varsity football coach of the Northstars at its board of education meeting on Monday night. Kline's name is submitted in "consideration of personnel" on the school board's agenda. It lists his coaching salary as $8,545.
Kline will take over for Joe Sindoni, who was not retained after two seasons as head football coach with the Northstars. Sindoni said he was fired by C-NS after he interviewed for the head coaching job at Christian Brothers Academy. North Syracuse Central School District superintendent Annette Speach said at the time the district decided to "move in a different direction regarding its head football coach."
That direction led to Kline, who twice has been selected All-CNY Coach of the Year including 2013.
Last season, Kline led Henninger to an 11-1 record and the Class AA Section III football championship. The Black Knights beat Liverpool 44-7 in the sectional title game at the Carrier Dome. After beating Corning-Painted Post 52-16 in a state quarterfinal game played at C-NS, Henninger lost in the state semifinals 28-12 to eventual state champion Jamestown.
Kline is a 1984 graduate of Henninger and has served in various coaching capacities at his alma mater since 1988. He's been head football coach of the Black Knights since 2004.
7-Eleven 'Bring Your Ownh Cup Day': Giant Slurpees, Major Brain Freeze on Saturday (PS; Axelson)
Maybe "cup" isn't the best word though. "Vessel" might be more appropriate, as the promotion's rules will let you bring in anything to put your Slurpee in that meets these conditions:
Someone at each store will be checking to make sure customers' cups are clean, and there will be a station to check whether they meet the size restrictions.
The "Bring Your Own Cup Day" promotion runs today, Saturday, April 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at about 7,700participating 7-Eleven stores nationwide.
