What Factors Could Affect 4-Star RB Robert Washington Signing with Syracuse Football? (PS; Bailey)
Saturday was a monumental day for Syracuse football recruiting as the Orange landed a verbal commitment from Robert Washington, one of the top running backs in the country.
The four-star product from SouthLake Christian (Huntersville, N.C.) Academy chose the Orange over a host of national powers. The question now is whether SU can hold on to its crown jewel all the way until he enrolls early for the Spring 2016 semester.
Washington briefly discussed his plan for the upcoming months during an interview on Sunday.
"I don't want to say too much because I'm still newly committed," Washington said. "I'm just thinking about Syracuse right now."
Washington said he hasn't decided if he'll take any official visits to other schools, though he confirmed that he'll be taking one to Syracuse. Likely candidates for potential trips include other finalists Florida, Alabama, Michigan, TCU and North Carolina.

The Robert Washington Effect: 4-Star DB Jared Mayden Wants to Visit Syracuse (PS; Bailey)
In an interview on Sunday, Robert Washington talked about recruiting some of his talented friends to come play at Syracuse with him.
Just one day later, it's clear the SouthLake Christian (Huntersville, N.C.) Academy four-star running back and Orange pledge isn't wasting any time.
The SU coaching staff is already in hot pursuit of Forestview (Gastonia, N.C.) High School athlete Moe Neal, a Class of 2016 prospect whose offer sheet includes Mississippi State, Duke, West Virginia, N.C. State, Boston College and Wake Forest.
Next up: Sachse (Texas) High School defensive back Jared Mayden.
Syracuse running backs coach DeAndre Smith called the Mayden household on Monday evening and extended scholarship offers to Jared, as well as his younger brother, Jalen Mayden, a Class of 2018 quarterback at Sachse.
"Definitely there were some things to take away from it," Jared Mayden said in a phone interview shortly after chatting with Smith. "I can tell they're really trying to get some high-quality guys to come into the program."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Mayden is rated four stars and listed as the No. 26 cornerback in the nation by 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He holds offers from nearly 40 schools including Alabama, TCU, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida State and plenty of other top programs.

Robert Washington and Moe Neal: Close Friends, Future Teammates?
SU Football Pushing Hard for North Carolina ATH Moe Neal After Robert Washington Pledge (PS; Bailey)
The Syracuse coaching staff is looking to capitalize on the momentum caused by four-star running back Robert Washington's verbal commitment on Saturday.
The Class of 2016 pledge from SouthLake Christian (Huntersville, N.C.) Academy has a strong network with top sophomore and junior prospects after building bonds through USA Football, camps, visits and local competitions.
And one such recruit, Forestview (Gastonia, N.C.) High School athlete Moe Neal, said he's already heard from a handful of SU coaches in the last 48 hours. Primary recruiter and running backs coach DeAndre Smith has led the charge.
"He's really been on me since Robert committed," Neal said in an interview Monday night. "They really want me bad now. They're saying, 'It's your time now' and 'we need you.'"
Smith will visit for Neal's baseball game later this week, Neal said, and the interest is definitely mutual.
"They're up there on the top of my list," Neal said. "I'm giving it real good thought because I'd like to play with Robert, too."
