Welcome to National Boss Day!
National Boss Day is October 16th of each year. When the holiday falls on a weekend, it is generally celebrated on the working day closest to October 16th.
National Boss Day started in 1958. Patricia Bays Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois, registered the holiday with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. Patricia´s idea was to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses. Her purpose in promoting National Boss Day through the years has been to improve the relationship between employees and their bosses. In particular, younger employees, she believes, often do not realize the problems bosses face in running a business.
She designated October 16th as the special day because it was her father’s birthday. “I had worked for a large company and noticed that they never had a regular date set to pay tribute to our bosses,” Haroski wrote in 1970. “I made inquiries, and through my network of secretaries, decided to establish a day in their honor. Reflecting on how my father had helped his white-collar daughters and sons many times with their problems concerning their work, I decided to register his birthday, October 16, as ‘The Day.’ In 1958, I gave it some authority by registering October 16th as National Boss Day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In 1962, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner proclaimed the day. This observance is fun for our bosses, and they do a lot of smiling that day.” ...

5-Star HS AA TE Chris Clark Will Transfer to Syracuse (TNIAAM; Ross)
Syracuse has not had a history of recruiting elite talent in the era of scouting and ranking services such as Rivals and Scout. As a matter of fact, Syracuse has never landed a recruit rated 5-stars by either of those services. However, that statistic is now void as of today. It was first reported by Mike McAllister of At their request, this network is being blocked from this site. that former 5-star TE Chris Clark, who is transferring from UCLA, will continue his collegiate career at Syracuse.
Clark stated through Direct Message that his comfort with the coaches and the team as a whole were the determining factors in his decision. The great coach relationship should be no surprise, as Syracuse was the first school to extend him an offer back in the summer of 2013. He also expressed excitement to be working in Tim Lester's offense, which he sees as a great fit. "I feel like I am going to be able to do all the things I need to be the best player I can be." Unless the NCAA decides to grant a waiver that Syracuse will likely file, Clark will likely have to sit out until the 2017 season, when Clark will be a redshirt sophomore. He will enroll at Syracuse in January
Coming out of Avon Old Farms HS (CT), Clark was the No.1 TE and No. 23 overall player in the class of 2015, making him easily the highest rated recruit Syracuse has landed in recent memory. This commitment is monumental for the Syracuse program, as it can now show its top recruits that it can bring in top recruits and that the program is trending in a positive direction...

John Cassillo of Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician, SB Nation's Syracuse blog, was good enough to answer our questions before the game. We answered some of theirs too. Be sure to swing over to TNIAAM for all your Syracuse coverage needs.
STL: After Terrel Hunt went down, no small number of outside observers thought any chance for a successful Syracuse season went off the field with him. But Eric Dungey has been a capable dual-threat replacement. What has impressed you the most about Dungey thus far?
TNIAAM: It's the little things that have really set him apart, in my opinion. Even as a true frosh, Dungey's shown himself a very capable leader, fearless competitor and a student of the game who's willing to put in the work to improve week-to-week. He's a little reckless sometimes, yes. But when you see his ability on play-fakes (among the best I've seen at the college level, to be honest), the air he can put under the ball and stuff like the presence of mind to lateral in the open field... these are all very good things. They can go wrong every so often, but really haven't yet. Really hoping we get four healthy and productive years with him under center.
STL: The first four games were pretty much the best Orange fans could have reasonably hoped for: three wins and a respectable showing in a loss to LSU. So um ... what happened against South Florida?
TNIAAM: If you ask the coaches? The "heat got to'em." That's inexcusable in my book, so coming up with my own conclusions after watching the game twice: the defense simply was not prepared. At all. They'd already shown a pattern of diminishing returns each week since the opener, but this was on a whole 'nother level. USF had a great gameplan, mind you -- use short passes to beat the blitz and spread the terrible-in-coverage linebackers too thin. But Syracuse should've also been ready to deal with that sort of thing going in (most of the Bulls receptions were/are courtesy of running backs and tight ends). Since they weren't, they got torched. I'm not nearly as optimistic now as a I was after the LSU game...
