And this is why these uniforms stink. Not only should that Dungey hurdle play have come in a victory (ugh!), but it should stand the test of time. But it won't, at least not as well, because in 10-12 years, when I show that play to my little boy, he's going to ask if that was Texas, Miami, or Oklahoma State (circa Barry Sanders).

Why? We are NOT wearing uniforms that represent Syracuse University football. They are gimmicks that will die on the vine. Likely within 1-2 years.

I was recently with a PGA Tour Player who saw a 3-4 minute hype video chronicling his impressive career. When the video ended, his first comment was, "dang, I wore some really ugly sh** back then, didn't I? That's baaaaad."

That is fashion. It comes and goes. I can understand that, and he did too. But a good chuckle was had.

But this should NOT happen much in a team sport. Uniforms do change. Evolution, uniform enhancements, modifications etc. Does not matter what term you choose. If you leave the entire premise, or I hate this word ... the [B]brand[/B], behind and disregard it, you lose the identity of the team. And while no one will die or get hurt, that is a darn shame when you are talking about something with a long (and at times storied) history like Syracuse football.

Someday, Eric Dungey will be gone. Done at SU and hopefully on to a successful NFL career. And he'll have never worn the same threads as Donovan McNabb, Donnie McPherson, etc.
