Welcome to Cyber Monday...
Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday in theUnited States. The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. The term was coined by Ellen Davis and made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year".[2]
According to the Shop.org/Bizrate Research 2005 eHoliday Mood Study, "77 percent of online retailers said that their sales increased substantially on the Monday after Thanksgiving, a trend that is driving serious online discounts and promotions on Cyber Monday this year (2005)".
In 2014, Cyber Monday online sales grew to a record $2.68 billion, compared with last year's $2.29 billion. However, the average order value was $124, down slightly from 2013's $128.[3]
The deals on Cyber Monday are online-only and generally offered by smaller retailers that cannot compete with the big retailers. Black Friday generally offers better deals on technology, with nearly 85% more data storage deals than Cyber Monday. The past Black Fridays saw far more deals for small appliances, cutlery, and kitchen gadgets on average than Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is larger for fashion retail. On the past two Cyber Mondays, there were an average of 45% more clothing deals than on Black Friday. There were also 50% more shoe deals on Cyber Monday than on Black Friday.[4]
Cyber Monday has become an international marketing term used by online retailers across the world.

SU Coaching Search Sexy-O-Meter: 2015 Edition (TNIAAM; Keeley)
It's the return of the highly-scientific tool used to determine who is the sexiest pick on that given day for the next Syracuse Orange football coach.
On December 6th, 2008, the Syracuse Coaching Search Sexy-O-Meter was born. When Doug Marrone was hired on December 11th, 2008, we thought we'd seen the last of this highly-scientific tool used to determine who is the sexiest pick on that given day for the next Syracuse Orange football coach. We were wrong.
The SCSSOM returned on January 7, 2013 when Doug Marrone left for the tropical shores of Buffalo. It's return was short-lived, however, as Scott Shafer was hired two days later.
But now, Shafer's time as the head coach of the Orange is over and it's time to find a new head honcho for us to get excited about and eventually sour on.
And so, without further ado, I give you the Inaugural 2015 Syracuse Coaching Search Sexy-O-Meter!

Scott Shafer Era Officially Ends at Syracuse (thejuice; Stechschulte)
Often a vagabond like many of his coaching brethren, Scott Shafer’s 25 years in coaching football have seen him bounce across the country, rarely being at one stop for more than a couple seasons.
Earlier in his career, while climbing the coaching ladder, he spent eight years on the Northern Illinois staff, serving in two different positions during that time. Shafer remained in Dekalb, Illinois until it was time to reach the next rung, moving up to Illinois in 2004.
That step proved to be a false one, and after one season, Shafer was cast adrift professionally once more, eventually serving at three different posts in the next four seasons.
But, as the calendar turned to 2009, Shafer landed in Syracuse, filling the defensive coordinator vacancy under the freshly-hired Doug Marrone. And the northeastern Ohio native found a home five hours away, guiding an aggressive defense that helped resuscitate a football program on life support when he arrived.
With the poor timing of Marrone’s departure to the NFL coming well after the 2012 season came to a close, the Orange opted for a move of continuity and promoted Shafer, giving him his first chance to steer his own program.
That was all taken away last Monday when it was announced that he would be fired at the conclusion of the season, ending his seven years in the Syracuse community.

Dumpster Fire in Jersey: Rutgers Fires Its Football Coach and Athletic Director (nytimes.com; Tracy)
Rutgers announced Sunday that it had fired its football coach, Kyle Flood, and athletic director, Julie Hermann, and had hired her replacement, Patrick Hobbs — three moves amid a flurry of personnel changes in major college football programs.
The Rutgers firings were widely anticipated. Flood, who went 27-24 in four seasons as head coach, was suspended three games this season for violating university policy in contacting an athlete’s teacher regarding a grade. Six players were dismissed from the team this season after arrests, and the university said it was possible there were N.C.A.A. violations.
Since Rutgers moved into the Big Ten before the 2014 season, the Scarlet Knights have gone 12-13 over all, and 4-12 against conference opponents.
“Our continued struggles on the field combined with several off-the-field issues have convinced me that we need new leadership of our football program,” Rutgers’s president, Robert L. Barchi, said in a statement.
In a teleconference with reporters Sunday afternoon, he said: “Wins and losses are really important. How you’re getting there is just as important.”

QB Quest Beings Immediately for BC (bostonherald.com; Thompson)
Boston College coach Steve Addazio promised a hard offseason following another tough loss.
The Eagles concluded a dismal campaign with a 20-17 loss to Syracuse on Saturday in the Carrier Dome. BC dropped its eighth straight and fifth by three points or less. The Eagles finished 3-9 and winless (0-8) in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
It was BC’s worst season since joining the ACC in 2005 and two of the Eagles’ wins were against lower-division programs (Maine, Howard). The Eagles were bushwhacked by devastating injuries on offense early and forced to play a lot of freshmen and sophomores.
“We are going back to the old days and it’s going to be a rough offseason,” Addazio said. “The Boston College Eagles are going to come back mentally and physically tougher forged as a good football team.
“I am looking forward to starting the offseason right now and the offseason starts immediately.”
The biggest question mark facing Addazio in the months before spring practice is the quarterback position.
Sophomore Darius Wade, who started the first three games, graded an incomplete after breaking his ankle in the second quarter of a 14-0 loss to Florida State on Sept. 18. Addazio rotated redshirt freshman Troy Flutie and true freshmen Jeff Smith and John Fadule, who was a walk-on, into the teeth of the ACC schedule.
“Every position will be open, but that one absolutely,” Addazio said. “Trust me, this will be the hardest offseason that this program has ever seen.

Aquinas Crushes Saratoga 44-19 to Win NYS Class AA Football Championship (dailygazette.com; Schiltz)
Dakota Harvey mention, Earnest Edwards Had a Huge Season, Has UB Offer But Nothing From SU
Jake Zembiec and Earnest Edwards were just warming up when they hooked up for a 75-yard touchdown two plays into Sunday’s state Class AA championship football game at the Carrier Dome.
Saratoga Springs never got started until the game was long over.
Zembiec fired three of his four touchdown passes to Edwards as part of a monster performance, and Aquinas Institute was equally tough on the defensive side, racing to a 44-0 lead and an eventual
“We were able to move the ball,” Saratoga coach Terry Jones said. “We couldn’t complete a drive.”
Aquinas (Section V, 13-0) did, and often, in a reversal from last week when a blocked extra point by Edwards in the fourth quarter enabled the Little Irish to escape with a 17-16 state semifinal win over Liverpool. On Sunday, the team from Rochester rolled to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and kept adding on in claiming their seventh New York crown — their third at the expense of a Section II team.
“To go out like this is amazing,” said the Penn State-bound Zembiec, who was 18-for-23 passing for 462 yards with four TDs and an interception. “I wasn’t going to accept anything less than a win.”
It was 44-0 in the fourth when Dakota Harvey went in from the five to produce Saratoga’s first touchdown, and Nick Kondo snared a 17-yard pass from Brian Williams to give the Blue Streaks another score.
Lukas Carlson blocked a punt and returned the ball three yards for Saratoga’s last touchdown with a minute left.
“Carlson worked so hard over the year to earn some time at linebacker,” Williams said of his fellow senior. “He sent us out with some good feelings there.”
The beginning wasn’t so good for the Blue Streaks
