I hate all pumpkin beers! What a waste of good hops and malt. Keep the pumpkin for pie or jack-o-lanterns. Just don't get the flavored beer craze. How about some tuna infused bourbon instead?
Some of these styles of beers have been around hundreds of years longer than the watery beer found in Coors and Bud Light. Last time I was in Munich a common beer at the beer halls for the Spring/Summer time was a beer mixed with lemonade. Traditional seasonal beer since forever. So not really a craze as much as history.
I've also seen the Germans mix it with tomato juice. But by law (the Rheinheitsgebot of 1516), German beers can only be made from malt, hops and water. What they mix with the beer after that is up to personal preference. I love most craft beers but I just don't get mixing in pumpkin gunk while trying to brew a batch.
