For my fellow fans who were at the dome yesterday

Was there and have now watched replay twice. Is there technology to dampen background noise for the announcers on TV? The noise in the Dome just did not come through on TV like being there. It was almost like the crowd noise was muted some. It was crazy loud there, didn't really seem it on TV.

That's disappointing, they had a sports science piece about how many decibels the noise got up to in the dome and Cameron. They said both places get up to 120 decibels. I'd like to know how loud it was yesterday.

Job VERY WELL done. 35,446 were all amazing. I have a pit in my stomach for missing out on such an event.

I've been happier to be a syracuse fan before (april 7, 2003) - but I have never been prouder.

Hey, I don't blame you for feeling distress that you weren't able to be there. 35,466 of us feel that we are the LUCKIEST FANS IN THE WHOLE WORLD!

By the way, I will be in Atlanta at the end of February to help with the last clean out of the house. (My heart is broken.) Maybe we could get together to watch the Maryland game on Monday? May not be feasible, but we could try!

I've thought for many years that the crowd never seems very loud on TV. Wonder why that seems to be.

ESPN doesn't mike the crowd as well as CBS does. Their broadcasts always mute the crowd noise.

sounds good. pm me as it gets closer.

LOVED that they broadcast the Anthem & player intros like the old days. Crowd noise did seem muted...

Exactly! That was huge - and huge that Syracuse got Vanessa Williams to sing. It made this a mini-superbowl.

I'd like to hear more about how the atmosphere was from those that were there. How it comapred to say Novageddon in 2010. (A gamday coronation game where we also secured the #1 ranking by the way).

Yep. I'm watching Indians - Michigan on CBS right now and the crowd noise is MUCH greater than it was on the ESPN telecast of our game.

Someone was saying that they remembered the crowd being louder on TV in games from the 80s. I'd hazard to guess it has to do with advances in digital sound recording/mixing more than any difference in the actual noise levels in the building.

I thought the atmosphere was great, best 30k game I've been to since 2011. Crowd was into it before they walked into the building. I enter gate E and there were guys chanting LGO in line waiting to be scanned and they definitely weren't students.

I was at the Nova game and at this one. The Nova game was the year my daughter and I sat behind Juli Boeheim. It was so exciting to look across the way and see all those people! It was such a great game! And, like last night, we learned that we were going to be #1, I believe while we were still playing Nova. It was fantastic!

BUT - we put Nova away rather early in that one. Last night, every single thing we did, whether a basket, shooting free throws, or a block, every single thing - the crowd screamed their heads off. I have never heard such a cacophony! And it was continuous. Our usher wore earplugs. I am pretty sure that the frequency of that sound vibration at times slipped the Dome into another dimension. It's highly possible we were actually IN a worm hole!

Plus, the level of play of both teams, oh my god! It almost defies description.

My hubby is making orange light bulbs, and I ordered orange outdoor string lights, and I'm putting them up and leaving them until April 7 (which is the same date we won our other championship)!

Completely agree. Re-watched the game and though the visuals were always great and played well on the broadcast (crowd standing a ton etc, cheering), the noise level didn't translate well on tv. It was freakin' loud. And judging from the twitter feeds of many other CBB writers who were in the building, they all seemed to agree. A truly great CBB environment.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up the comparison between the two games. Nova was an incredible night, but this was easily a more memorable experience for me. My entire body literally hurt by the end of the game from yelling so much/all the yelling going on around me. I've been at almost every home game over the past 4 years, and while other games have gotten that loud for stretches, this game was continuously deafening for almost the entire 40 minutes.
