Lets say we somehow go undefeated in the regular season, win the big east tourny, and get bounced in the elite 8.

Could you make a case thats the greatest syracuse team ever? Id say going undefeated till the elite 8 is a tougher accomplishment than the winning it all in '03.

The tournament really makes it tough to talk about greatest team ever cause in the end thats all anyone remembers, but its not fair to throw out everything else either.

If we don't make the Final 4 this year I will be extremely dissappointed (barring injuries).

If this is the greatest Syracuse team of all time they will win the Championship. If we go undefeated until getting bounced in the Elite 8, we would be St Josephs circa 2004.

However, I might ask - if we completely run the table, and go 40-0, are we the greatest team of all time?

Probably not, but we are in the conversation.

If we don't win it all we aren't the best team we ever had. Plain and simple. Even if we WIN it all and go undefeated, I don't think it definitely means the best team we ever had, just the best season we ever had.

Also, I don't buy this, "winning means everything." If that is the case, then hundreds of teams were failures for lacing them up, and all but three seasons in SU history were meaningless. Call me old fashioned, but that's a hell of a sh!tty attitude to have.

I think "Best Ever" is abstract enough as it is. The 2003 team was good. But I still think Arinze's senior year was just as good. Too many variable to just look at the tournament and say 2003 was the best. They were the greatest because of the championship? But the best?
