There was a period a bit back not too far (a place we don't want to go back to anytime soon), a time where the tailgate and times with family/friends became just about the only reason to go.   You're right the history for so many of us goes way back and it's so in the blood.  It's been enhanced beyond expectations the past several years with FINE MESS and the great friends/acquaintances that's developed from that.

And while I get where you're coming from with all this, and agree with most, for me it's still as much about the record though as it is anything else.  Maybe that will mellow more and reduce with age but at this point it's as equally about that as much as all the rest.

The best of both worlds is what we hope for now that we have big time tailgates we now need big time (or hell I'll take small time) success so they go hand in hand.  And hopefully one day down the road finally we're good enough before I kick to get Gameday here where we celebrate all of the above.   But all that said great post on what it's really all about. As the saying goes "A lot will come in between but we all begin and end with family and friends. "  Can't spend enough time around em.
