I will not attend another Syracuse basketball game until we lose again. My friends can attest that I am quite the lucky charm for Syracuse football, and have been at all of the big football wins over the last 5 years. I was at homecoming when we beat Louisville, made the trip to WVU when we beat the 19-14, was at the K-State Pinstripe Bowl when we won that game. I was also in the Dome when we beat Geno's WVU and made the trip back up when we beat Teddy and the Cards when they were a Top 10 team. I even made the Pinstripe trip to watch us beat WVU again. I watched us take down both NC State and Maryland on the road this year. I'm incredibly good luck for the football team, but I'm the opposite for the basketball team. In fairness, I've only planned to go to the biggest games our team has played, but I still will not go to another game until we lose without me there. The last game that I watched us win was the Big East Tournament game against UConn in which we won 58-55. I saw us lose the next night to Cincy, then was lucky enough to have a friend who could get me amazing tickets against Ohio State in Boston. I'm not ashamed that I got overly emotional after this loss, as I've been a Syracuse fan as long as I've lived and this was the last game I would ever attend as a student of my dream school. I then planned three trips the next year, one to see us play Georgetown in Syracuse, one to see us play Villanova in Philly, and one to watch us take on the Hoyas in DC. We lost all of these games. I vowed not to make the trip to MSG, a place I loved and worked for 6 months during my senior internship. After we beat Marquette, I drunkenly agreed to meet bnoro and BlackKnight in Atlanta for the Final Four. Other than seeing the Red Sox finally win in 2004, I've never been more excited during a sporting event than during our championship run in 2003. My father (who earned his MBA from SU) spent the last two rounds in Germany on a business trip and it ruined the experience of watching us win it all. I knew I had to be there in Atlanta to watch my alma mater attempt to win it all. Needless to say, we lost. I love my alma mater, and have rooted for this team harder than anyone. I have a friend who lives in Delaware who wants to meet up for a game but I refuse to meet up for a game until we lose without me present. I promise to all of you on SyracuseFan that until we lose another game I will not see a live Syracuse basketball game.
