The under 4:00 min timeout, please tells us why you do? I sat up in the third deck tonight and had a prime view of where the Orange Israelites come from. You are season ticket holders who dwell in the lower bowl and bleacher sections. The season holders in the comfy seats in our section also cleared out with about 6:00 min to go. Why? To beat the traffic? Because of the snow? Please, for the love of Bees and Jake, tell us why?

I was there till the end, and I know Bees was too because I could see him from afar (yes, I stalk Bees). I left after the final horn, got on a bus to Manley, and was still home before 9:40. If I can do it with kids in tow, so can those season holders who hear the call of the turnstiles at the 8:00 min mark. You bought the damn ticket, stay for the game!

(Disclaimer: this is just a general rant and mostly rhetorical because I know the people who leave early do not post here, so I really don't expect to get an answer...but it still drives me crazy.)

i don't have a real problem with people leaving early in a blow out. we stay because it is fun watching the walk ons. the people that bug me are the ones that leave at 4 mins to beat the traffic and we are up 2.

Anyone who isn't entertained by Walk On Time is probably a boring person to be around in all facets of life.

That's the worst. Makes no sense at all.

It is a matter of principle. I don't get to a lot of games but have NEVER left one early, in any sport.

Yes. Agree 100%. There is no excuse good enough for that besides a wife having a child, needing immediate medical attention, or a sudden family crisis. Otherwise, stay in the chair.

People pay for their own tickets. I could care less what they do.

Agreed, however the original question was asking why people leave early. I have wondered that myself for years especially in the 'up 2 with 4 minutes left' situations not so much a night like tonight. I would love some group to poll those who leave early in the close games. If time is so precious for those folks why don't they instead arrive late and stay for the whole game?

Syracuse fans claim to have such a rough time of it; one would think they'd want to watch the #1 team in the country play all 40 minutes after paying admission.

Leaving early is disrespectful to players and coaches and often is inconsiderate to other fans (many seats become obstructed view when the aisles are full of departing spectators). It's not unique to Syracuse, but it's disappointing.

If you are coaching, there is a temptation to--CALL A TIME OUT--grab a bull horn--WALK OUT OUT TO CENTRE COURT--ask those leaving--WHY THE &*4--did they get out of bed this mourning?

I never bounce early, but speaking for those of us down there, believe me there's a good reason to do so ... we pay for it with the 25 minute zombie trot to the doors. Today was the worst in years. 5 ... FIVE wheelchair folks didnt just converge at the highest traffic corner of the dome tonight... they locked their parking brake and had a post game chat together in the middle of 2 thousand people. I usually try my darndest to be one of the good Samaritans to part the Orange Sea for them, but tonight I lost any such good will. It looked like it was a spiteful protest, and it caused nothing but the worst in everyone. If you were there you'd sympathize, punches were thrown over that cluster that jammed that corner. [We're all trying to go in some direction that is in someone elses way, thats just how crowds work. But the behavior of some people tonight was pretty shameful.]

I'd think that if you're leaving a sporting event early, and you see half the crowd joining you...what's the benefit, really? Aren't you just gonna get stuck in a garage with half the crowd anyway? Might as well enjoy the end of the game.

It's hysterical watching this happen with UConn WBB games. Seriously. At what threshold does one decide to "beat the traffic" at a UConn-St. Mary's WBB game? 55 points? 60?

If we are up huge and its a school night I bolt. I usually do it because I'm trying to get my son home and to bed (because he screws around when he gets home). I cant see leaving early at all if its close. I do understand however as the traffic around the dome is 'ed up and its a nightmare to get out seeing they block 3 of the 5 streets around the dome.

I stay until the bitter end. Win or lose, I like to see the teams shake hands at the end. I like the FB team singing the alma mater with the band. In basketball, I like watching the players who typically get less PT.

When you stay until the end, a lot of the crowd has dispersed. I take a leisurely walk to my car, and the traffic has largely cleared before I hit the road. It takes me about 10 minutes more than if I rushed out of the Dome, but a lot less stress and aggravation. A very worthwhile 10 minutes.
