Over the last few years, I have protested the SSS playing "Sweet Caroline" at basketball games on grounds it was the Boston Red Sox song. Folks here said it wasn't.

Read this. Pretty good proof. The Yankees thought the best way to honor Boston tonight ... was to play it at their game.
