Former Louisville Player on Petrino

That's sorta like what was said about Lombardi. Willie Davis was asked if Lombardi treated the black players differently than he treated the white players. "Oh no," Davis replied. "He treats us all equally - like dogs."

I had heard that story the other way around--

Davis, newly arrived via trade from the Browns, didn't like the way Lombardi was ragging him. He asked a teammate if Lombardi was a bigot, and was told "Hell no, he treats us all like dogs".

Lombardi was nice to people off the field. There is nothing good to say about petrino

It doesn't necessarily go both ways, that all jerks are good coaches. Some very incompetent people are also .
A lot of coaches are jerks on the field and gentlemen off the field.

I think it was Gerry Kramer, the guard, who said it, but the point stands. All the Packers felt that way.

Haha! Probably a more true statement

In the old days, maybe. But players don't respond the same way to that kind of treatment as they used to.
