Not sure if this was already posted, but apparently he is the DB coach/recruiting coordinator at San Jose State (hi, GRob) and he's getting it done on the recruiting trail.

This name is not ringing a bell for me at all and I've been following the program long enough. Did he play very much?

If I remember correctly didn't he come in in the same class as Deandre Lacaille but didn't play very much? I remember us needing CB help at the time and we went JUCO. Lacaille actually did play quite a bit. I might be off a year though.

If you check his twitter he does still follow Syracuse sports.

He played in 5 games in 2003, and had 1 assisted tackle.

Man, its unfair to Fred Reed since I don't know whether he's doing well or not with coaching our DB's, but I'd make the change right now. It costs us a bit of that family atmosphere that many of the recruits have noted as to why they chose SU, but I don't think Reed is credited much with bringing in particular recruits and I've seen some backsliding of DB performance in recent years and athletes coming in who don't seem to be well-devel0ped. So I don't know whether Williams is as good at coaching DBs as Reed is, but I know he's a better recruiter at least at warm and sunny San Jose State. Guys who recruit well and coach that position that have ties to SU are not plentiful. If we don't offer him a job now and he is being recognized nationally for his recruiting chops, he won't be available for long. I would expect him to make the move to SU if offered simply because of his connection to SU and the step up to a rising P5 team that is sure to win ACC conference championships within the next few years (hoping!)

He's from California and I think he was only here for one year. I doubt there would be much interest on either side.

Just because he recruits well for another school doesn't mean he would do as well here. I am sure there are a lot of factors in his success including the presence (or absence) of a good head coach.
