In college football unlike the NFL you can win on a consistent basis with exceptional athletes  at certain positions.  Quarterback being the key. Pair that with above average coaching, competent players at the other positions, good special teams and disciplined play and Syracuse can compete with 90% of power 5 teams.  In order to compete with rest you need dominant lines which is why we never were able to take the next step with McNabb.  With the move to the ACC the exposure and money it brings there is no reason we can't be a top 25 caliber team. 
With the right staff and the ability to recruit a few difference  makers you can go from bad to good quickly in college football example Duke.  Find a FCS coach that has proven that they can build a team that plays smart disciplined winning football.  Syracuse isn't going to pay for a big name coach.  You have the facilities and the stability with ACC so no more excuses.  All is not lost but we are definitely not moving in the right direction hopefully those in charge see that and do something about.
