Has it ever happened before in major league professional sports?
No. the Yankees and Giants played in three world series in a row from 1921-23. the Browns and the lions played in three NFL championship game sin a row from 1952-54. The Montreal Canadians played the Detroit Red Wings in three Stanley Cup finals in a row from 1954-1956. The previous three years is the only time there in a row have ever happened in the NBA, (the Lakers and Celtics have met 10 times but never three in a row).
