Four years ago - something to think about.

finding offenses that don't require that much time should be a priority here
I know what you're saying because you've pretty much beat that horse to glue by now, but that article wasn't referring to scheme. It was more about letting players have time to develop skills. No matter how good a scheme is and how much the meatheadedness is removed from the game, there will always be an aspect of having to just beat-the-guy-in-front-of-you to football. I know you know this. Nearly everything mentioned in the article had nothing to do with scheme. Nassib missing an open Van Chew, is just a QB not throwing the ball where it needs to be. A receiver getting knocked down, a guy missing a block in pass protection, someone dropping a pass, those are mostly technique or maturity issues, not scheme.

we need to recruit high school QBs who already know how to throw the ball

those QBs are in shotgun 4 wide no huddle spread. if you want them to have a shorter learning curve, run the same offense they know

To be fair, it is also about learning a system. As you know, it all goes together. Interesting to reads that article and realize what Nassib became. Hope for everyone!

You mean like AJ long?

You mean like AJ long?
if we had some stability and credibility running that type of offense, we could do better than aj long.

give him a year in the weight room and put him in a wide open (i mean that literally, wide WR and OL splits in the shotgun every down) offense, he'll be fine eventually

Who knows. Ryan was a big kid, strong arm, smart as a whip and a real energizer bunny (or Timex watch, if you prefer). I'm afraid AJ doesn't appear to be any of those. He has other attributes, but not the same as Ryan's.

Sure, stability and credibility take some time. I don't know if we'll ever get the air raid offense that you want. There are a variety of offenses that work well. I just want one of them. If it's the air raid, great. If we find a Gus Malzahn clone and can replicate that here, I'd be fine with that too. I'm hoping whatever Lester does, it's easily teachable and it's able to take advantage of what the defense gives us.

I have little enthusiasm left. I guess, I don't think I can drink the cool aid anymore

I referenced him because millhouse said we needed to recruit a kid that ran a highschool offense that threw the ball and, although he didn't throw it as often as some, he fit the bill. I was mostly pointing out that I think we've been trying to do what millhouse is requesting. We were doing it too with Zach Allen.

i don't care if we ever get the air raid. i like the read option. air raid defenses suck. i just want simple playbooks where there aren't giant piles of fatties in the way of running back's legs and QBs eyes.
