I counted 16. Some have an 8-2 record. How many 7-3 schools are not ranked?
I mean what would you expect him to say?
looks like only 4 in the power conferences. 3 in the ACC.How many 7-3 schools are not ranked?
One thing to consider is that this is his first-time being the head man. For me, I bet that beating GT and then laying a big egg the next game will stick with him for awhile.Don't lose at home to a bad Stanford team and they would be ranked. Fran didn't have the team ready and that's on him.
We have some pretty impressive wins though, so that argument goes both ways.I like having the mindset that we should be ranked, but in reality we have two losses to two mid-bottom level ACC teams and one non competitive game against #19. The AP poll placing us a few spots outside of top 25 seems pretty fair.
If we neat uconn AND Miami and aren't in the top 20 that is just insanity. We have been on the fringe of deserving a ranking all season long, but when we had our chances we didnt step up. A win at Pitt would have done it, instead we get embarrassed. Well, we have worked our way back to the fringe. Dont expect anything to be handed to us. If we beat UCant and Miami we will deserve to be ranked. If get those wins and still are not ranked, then I will bitch like hell. I can wait until all the evidence is in.
Exactly, each time we had a chance to get the win that would have put us in the top 25, we didn't get the job done. It does seem like it's harder to break in than it is to fall out, but only have ourselves to blame. Those weren't impossible games to win.Had you beaten the Boston Clowns or Stanford, you might be.
True, and one more reason why bowl games matter; pre rankings play a big part in perception going forward.Exactly, each time we had a chance to get the win that would have put us in the top 25, we didn't get the job done. We have solid wins. I wouldn't call any of them impressive. Impressive would be beating a team that has been solidly ranked all year and/or blowing teams out. We haven't done either. We have some pretty impressive wins though, so that argument goes both ways.
Pre season rankings don't have much to do with the playoff committee rankings since they don't come out until more than halfway through the season.True, and one more reason why bowl games matter; pre rankings play a big part in perception going forward.
The bowl games matter to the final rankings at the end of the season, but unfortunately bowl game results are severely impacted by opt outs, coaching changes, the portal etc. so while we always want SU to win, the last two bowl games were heavily tilted against us so there is only so much anyone can do. Helped us in 2018 at least with WVU getting crushed with opt outs and we were intactTrue, and one more reason why bowl games matter; pre rankings play a big part in perception going forward.
