They said this on ESPN right as the game beganYou should always trust your players, but to a certain extent. 13 bullied Travis Hunter last year who is going to be a top 5 NFL draft pick. This kid can go 1 on 1 with any CB in the country, and you think leaving Lewis on an island with him with the game on the line is the correct call? Coaching malpractice. He’ll learn.

Overmatched CB/DB's
He may be taking a bullet for the DC.So that final defensive call was intentional and not a miscommunication. And Fran made the call? Yeesh
Not adjusting after that is just insane, especially considering FB has made his living as a DB coach and he brought along his friend and “one of the best DCs” in the country in Erob. The only adjustment we’ve seen from this group 3 games in is standing up our best pass rusher in Diggs and using him as a spy.Barnes leaving right in the beginning didn't help matters. He was the island guy before he got hurt.
This was the one area he was supposed to have a good feel. Hoping he’s just covering for Erob.So that final defensive call was intentional and not a miscommunication. And Fran made the call? Yeesh

Tough to replace sure, but make adjustments. Lewis should have never been in a position to be 1 on 1 with Stanfords best player needing 9 yards to win the game. Everyone knew where the ball was going, how are we not sending help that way? We gave Stanford the game with that defensive decision. The offense sputtered and didn't really help as they had too many 3 and outs and losing your island guy is a tough guy to replace. #3 did a decent job of doing so.

I don't buy it. Deflecting for ERob, imo.So that final defensive call was intentional and not a miscommunication. And Fran made the call? Yeesh

Maybe this is why he's been a career db coach with ordinary results in terms of opposing QB efficiencyYou should always trust your players, but to a certain extent. 13 bullied Travis Hunter last year who is going to be a top 5 NFL draft pick. Make someone else beat you has always been my mindset in these situations, double 13 and make Daniels look elsewhere. If he makes that play more power to him, how we lost this game is leaving a sour taste in my mouth more so than actually losing it. Can’t leave Lewis on an island with that kid in that situation. We could have gone into "prevent mode".
Rushed 3 and dropped back 8.
Of course, Daniels only needed a 9 yard completion and the game was over. Didn't need any YAC, just a throw and catch.
They would have been on the fringe of Kenney's 51 yard range, with almost 40 seconds left.
Unless Daniels overthrew his receiver or got tripped up by the turf monster, any decision Fran made would have been wrong.
Songs in the Key of SACK‘Stevie Wonder see that’…funny line at the end.
Or a safety who blew the coverage?I don't buy it. Deflecting for ERob, imo.
