Re the D call in the Stanford game it could have been to relieve his good friend E-Rob of the embarrassment of a bad call.  All for seemingly honorable reasons.  But for us fans who hang on his every word?  Not so fast young man.  Maybe we make use more of the famous advice of POTUS No. 40: trust but verify.  In other words - we should take everything Fran says as maybe not being the full story.
