Freshman Participation Report

Here's hoping they continue to be on the participation report.

Fagan is a headscratcher to me though.

I'm not. I think they are willing to try anything at running back.

Just personally his film was not impressive as a RB. I thought Pierre and Perkins were even better than Neal and Strickland tonight.

I think we're going to see Pierre and Johnson a lot more as they get acclimated.

Flashback to RichRod in 2005 game 1, starting a QB not named Pat White and a RB not named Steve Slaton. By season's end those 2 were tearing up Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

Your best sees the field eventually.

Unrelated to freshmen, I'm frightened for Sean Riley.

The report also has Jeff Chan and Jesse Connors as active. It's not like our uniform numbers are hard to read.

Besides, doesn't Connors have to sit out a year?
I spotted Connors on the sideline. He was wearing jeans.

Does it start this year or did I miss read something that said they will allow a player to play four games and still redshirt?

Isn't there a new rule that said you can play 4 or less games and still be redshirted? I understand if Fagan is on specials that may not be the case as he is a "starter" when it comes to that but hopefully this rule is in effect. Maybe Fagan was too good during practice and HCDB just could not stop him from being on specials?

It was a proposal but hasn't been approved by the NCAA yet.

"First up, the newly formed Division I Football Competition Committee, chaired by Arizona State AD Ray Anderson, will discuss the proposal at its May 16 meeting. If they’re on board, they forward the proposal to Division I’s Football Oversight Committee, chaired by Bowlsby. That committee could then formally sponsor legislation to be considered by the larger Division I Council, with the possibility of going up for vote at January’s NCAA convention."

Thanks CL, maybe it was wishful thinking. You're my favorite poster on this site but don't let the others know that because it might hurt some feelings.

Well I won't tell them if you don't. ;)

So many guys get hurt later in the careers, I don't mind playing them as freshmen and holding the redshirt for a possible injury later.

Plus, with that new graduate rule you might lose them anyways so if they have the skill and it helps the team I have no problem putting them on the field. Also, if this staff continues to recruit well this won't be a problem...actually...a good problem to have.
