The Big East ain't want it used to be, as a one-time, short-time ACC-country resident I'm embracing the move to Tobacco Road and other Southern ports, but, still, the change of conference tournament venue, in so many words, sucks. It is what it is, life will go on, but, still, damn, I'll miss the excitement of 'Cuse goin' to the Garden each March.

Good read here on the subject by Dan Wetzel. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basket...l_syracuse_big_east_storied_era_ending_030812

Agreed. The Garden has been great for the BE, and especially great for SU.

Home of Ric Flair and the Four Horseman.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Read the article and there are some glaring mistakes in it. Syracuse started the New York's college team campaign specifically to expedite our exit from the Big East. Secondly, SU does not look at NYC as a talent pipeline. We haven't been big in the city for recruits for years. NYC recruits have left the city and gone all over the country and especially to ACC schools. The meme that BC went from powerhouse to outhouse in the ACC is ridiculous. BC was a middling basketball team in the Big East with flashes of respectability...nothing more nothing less.

Agreed. Im so sick of people making the lazy comparison of BC and Syracuse. Syracuse is a national top 5 basketball program. An insititution with history, facilities and a huge fanbase. BC never even held a candle to Seton Hall basketball. Our basketball is going to be fine, maybe even better imo, since the ACC style of play fits us better. Once we start rivalries with Duke and UNC, I think alot of us will become fans of the ACC. As for football, well weve sucked as bad as you can suck for a while so this can only help.

This is true, there is no comparison between the basketball programs. However the new conference seems to think they're some sort of "rivals".

I mistakenly caught a few minutes of the Miami vs GT 54-36 barn burner last night. There looked to about 10k (19k reported) fans in the crowd. Very depressing after watching 3 days of the BET. Absolutely no energy whatsoever. First time I've felt sad about our move.

All these Yahoo writers need to go to a good journalism school. Another article with inaccuracies, bad premise, faulty conclusions. Why does anyone read the crap these guys put out? The internet just allows anyone to write anything even if it has no basis.

Having Syracuse down there is going to bring some life to that tournament, especially given how our fans take over arenas like locusts.

I know I'll be there the first year.

We go from the ECAC's-BET-ACCT and not being able to have the garden will be quite strange but I'm looking forward to this Greensboro thing and seeing how it shaped out. I'm going to watch some of these ACC games today and get a little more of a read on how this shakes down a little.

I recently read an article about poor ticket sales for the ACC tourney and only Duke and Carolina hold up their end of the bargain. Hopefully that will change when the two yankee programs come on board. Trust me, not only will they loathe us when we start beating them but they will absolutely hate the way Pitt plays. Maybe we can put some fannies in the seats.
