Your post is a real deja vu for me as my years on the Hill were 66 to 70. Back in those days the frosh practiced in Archbold Gymnasium. I still remember watching a practice where Ernie just hit bomb after bomb from what is now three point range. Imagine what the numbers would have been for Ernie and Calvin if there wasa three point shot back then !!! I still remember watching those Cuse-Niagara frosh battles - our guys was unreal, but not even close to Calvin. Calvin was maybe the 2nd best ever pure collegiate scorer after Pete Maravich. One tidbit you failed to mention in your great post, was that Ernie was personally recruited by Dave Bing to be his successor. If I remember correctly, that 66-67 team with Dean and Boeheim and some of the other that you mentioned got off to a terrific start and had reached about 5 in the country before fading late. That was unheard of for Cuse hoops back in those days.
