I still remember watching those Cuse-Niagara frosh battles - our guys was unreal, but not even close to Calvin. Calvin was maybe the 2nd best ever pure collegiate scorer after Pete Maravich. One tidbit you failed to mention in your great post, was that Ernie was personally recruited by Dave Bing to be his successor. If I remember correctly, that 66-67 team with Dean and Boeheim and some of the other that you mentioned got off to a terrific start and had reached about 5 in the country before fading late.
