In what was seemingly a "must win" game today, the team stepped up in a big way. It began at the X, and it must have been psychologically battling to prepare against a 70% conversion-rate face off specialist given the lack of success this season. A much better job by the wings in getting to the GB's as well. On the violation in the first quarter against Daddio I thought there should have been a hold called against ND, stick tucked under the torso and restricted his movement. Kudos to the face-off unit and gives the team something to build on moving forward. Didn't understand the goalie change. Still don't. Fortunately we had two hot goalies today, some big time saves and stayed collected on clears. Transitions are important, clearing after a save is vital. Very solid today and on a couple occasions they were beautiful to watch. With one time out in the pocket, I almost lost it when Desko didn't use it when Loy was in trouble and subsequently lost possession. That could have had disastrous consequences. All things considered, this was a positive response after a rough start to the season and a complete meltdown last Sunday. Perhaps the team meeting cleared the air and lit a fire. Although I typically respect a business-like approach on the sidelines, I absolutely loved the energy and enthusiasm during the game and after the final whistle. These guys knew the importance of today. It is only one game, the same questions still remain and likely will until the play on the field answers them consistently. There is a lot of talent on this team, the season isn't over yet. In fact, it was alluded to during the game that Syracuse could finish dead last in the ACC yet make the tournament based on SOS and RPI. UNC and Cornell games will be huge. Congratulations on the team for earning the program's first ACC victory. They fully deserved it, and I'm very proud of them today. HHH. LGO!
