The Orange played three true freshmen (FS Andre Cisco, CB Trill Williams, LB Juan Wallace) in the contest. Redshirt freshmen CB Ifeatu Melifonwu, DL/LB Tyrell Richards, OL Dakota Davis, WR Cameron Jordan, QB Tommy DeVito and PK Andre Szmyt also made their college debuts Friday, as did redshirt sophomore DB Devon Clarke.

Rookie Andre Cisco is the first true freshman free safety to start in a season opener for the Orange since All-American Markus Paul in 1985 at Mississippi State. Cisco intercepted a pass and recorded a pass breakup in his debut.

There’s no way that’s correct. Joe Fields started the opener at QB @Purdue as a true frosh in 2004 but there has to be more after him.
