Frustrated? Yes...But we probably over achieved once we got in. Notched another few memorable tournament wins and continued to own West Virginia in whatever sport we play since the break up.

Stings a little because Final Four #7 was there for the taking but I will remember this odd season fondly.

Now the next time I will be this invested in a team the Bills will be playing and then our beloved Orange soon after. So goes the circle. Enjoy the summer folks, go ORANGE.

Ps-hope we all get to see eachother in that beautiful new Dome next season.

Playing with house money coming into this game. I’m more pissed we only made 13 or 14 baskets all game. It’s credit to Houston’s defense. Felt like we were right there and couldn’t get baskets when we needed

This was all house money guys. We had every reason to expect this performance against SDSU. Instead this team gave us two more memorable NCAA Tourney games and a fun week of positive pub for the program. A big success overall.

I liked your post but I totally disagree that it was Houston's defense. Yes we missed open shots that we made on other nights and we also missed bunnies. Defense has absolutely nothing to do with the fact our players could not put the ball in the basket. Yes, it looks great in their stats but our guys tonight could not hit the broad side of the barn if they were standing inside of it. I am not denying Houston, great win. But I am saying we did a lot to not win the game.

Sure some shots could have gone in that didn't, but everyone we beat with the zone says this same thing. Their defense absolutely was the cause of how poorly we played on offense. Don't dimish their win or our effort by saying they didn't have anything to do with it. That was an excellent defensive performance on their part.

Maybe people will learn not to call paper tiger because of a conference a team plays in or if they’ve lost a bad game or two.

Maybe

it hurts alot because of the way the bracket opened up for us. we’ll probably never have an easier regional than houston/oregon st. houston is a good team but not great, rutgers had them beat
It’s unusual to see people continue to underrate an opponent even after they beat us handily. Houston is legit. Their brand of basketball isn’t pretty, but they’re legit.

This is what SDSU and WVU fans sounded like last weekend.

Gonzaga and Virginia missed open shots and bunnies against us in 2016. You know why? Because our press rattled them. Just like Houston’s defense rattled us tonight.

Not sure we watched the same game! Houston’s defense was the biggest factor of us not making shots.

Never thought we’d get where we got, but also think we could’ve gone further. Our rotations were the issue at the beginning and the very end.

This is exactly how I felt this morning. Proud of a team that really started to peak at a great time and gave us some great basketball in March.

Once again we were talked about positively in the National media. Probably upped our rep a bit and we found out we’ve got some young guys that can do some really good things.

Very optimistic about the future. Can’t predict who stays and who goes, can only assume and work with what’s currently here, and what’s currently here can continue to progress.

Thanks for the 20-21 season team, I really, really enjoyed this last stretch!

Hard to get extremely upset when you lose a game you aren’t favored in. But like others have said, the opportunity was right there. Unfortunately most of the game just felt and looked really difficult, which is also a credit to Houston’s solid D, and it’s frustrating losing that way. And the hindsite add of playing Rutgers instead really caps it off.

Getting to the sweet 16 really helped to save the season. I'd have been much less pleased if we hadn't gotten into the tourney or didn't win two superb games to get to the second weekend. This team had weaknesses and liabilities that couldn't be overcome by the will of JB or the team in the end. We were a great story and I can ruminate over that for a bit. Jim and Buddy were able to share moments that should touch all of us deeply. Yeah, I was hoping to make a deep run but the run we had was pretty damn good. Thanks to the team for making it so much fun...

I kept wondering why MD kept driving deeper when he used that hesitation step. He had some easy wide open 10-12 ft shots. Instedad he would continue to drive io the man then draw an extra defender for a more difficult shot.

just making the tourney was great. march ain't the same without it. winning 2 games exceeded all my expectations. i think we showcased ourselves well on the national stage. no shame at all yesterday.

While I appreciate the nice 6 game run we had, I hate hate hate to see it end like this. Too amped? Too much hype? Bad coaching? Bad execution? Probably a combo of everything, but let's not make Houston out to be some uber defensive juggernaut. Solid, to be sure, but we flat out sucked on offense. We reverted back to our earlier season form of disappearing on 'o' for long stretches. If we played like we did last night during the regular season in the ACC, we'd get spanked. We are/were so much better, hate to lose not playing up to our potential, (and yes we have more potential even against a 'great' d).
