OL stays the same. Interesting.

Wonder how bad More's reported ankle sprain was.

Or maybe they just liked what they saw from Bradford, and want to lock in on a consistent line heading into that Purdue game, to establish as much continuity as possible.

Pena seems like one of those injuries that will last five or six more weeks.

Doubtful this week
Hopeful next week
Possible the week after
Probable the week after that
Should be a go week after that

At this point I expect him back after bye week for VaTech

Monday depth chart for the coming week is always the same as who played the previous. You can take almost zero from these.

Agreed 144%.

Short of a starter being decapitated or similar, Dino doesn’t update this from week to week.

For entertainment purposes only.

No Pena? Thought it was going to be a one week thing?
It may well be.

These depth charts have never been current. They more reflect the previous week's lineup.

I don't even know if that matters.

We've had guys with serious injuries show up on the following week's depth chart.

Hope in reality Price has been bumped from RB2.

Agreed.

On paper, Price seemed like a solid RB2, with potential for RB1.

But on the field, he just hasn’t gotten it done. Yet.

I like Ike.
Would rather him be RB2, which will keep him happy & engaged.

And/or maybe one of the JUCO RB’s can push for that spot?

Anyway - I don’t think you bother trying to keep Ike’s RS status.
Play him.

Is Escobar on scholarship?

He looked good. I don't think RB2 is going to get that many carries if LQA is healthy and should he be out we're going to spread it around but we need someone with high end gamebreaking ability I think Ike has that.

I'm surprised they don't just use him on some returns. I think he could do damage in open space but I think it's pretty clear he won't be a starting-level P5 running back. I'd like to see somebody else get the backup snaps.

By the time he gets back he may not have a place in the lineup. The WR Corp looks promising, Adams might be a gamebreaker on returns, and haven't seen Brown return yet.
The way Brown works at WR he might be a great return man.

Agree. That one catch and move by Gill was amazing, also.

Really liked Adams as a return guy, even though he made some mistakes.

The speed is elite -- he's a factor with the ball in his hands, it's a great way to get him engaged, and he is a threat to make a big play every time he touches the ball.

May the best players with the PT. Pena can be a solid receiver, too. Where he slots into that group when he returns -- only time will tell.

But as with most positional units on this year's squad, the WR is deep and talented. Depth is stacked.

Yep. Dino literally said during the Colgate game, a sideline interview, that 1st and 2nd team spots were still up for grabs so I expect the reality is there was some movement after Saturday’s film review.

Yeah Price just doesn’t seem to have the burst you want to see, I would love to see someone, Ike, Escobar, anyone, challenge for number 2, Allen can’t run 25 times a game

no hes hurt no sense in risking injured players in this game.

Either Consigliere or Tomcat [not sure which one] indicated that they spoke to his parents before the game, and they said that he sprained his ankle this week in practice, it was minor, and that the staff decided not to play him to give him a bit of extra time to recuperate.

If you take that at face value, then it doesn't sound like he's "hurt" beyond the sprained ankle. I'd expect him to play against WMU.

As far as the RB’s. I was underwhelmed by Price compared to what I expected from him and the guys that played after him all did really well. In fairness though; it was one game, the guys who came in after Price and looked good were facing tired and/or backup Colgate players. So while I liked what I saw from them I also know not to place too much value in how a RB looks in the 4th Q against a team we’re beating by 60+. In the same way when I’m watching a player look really good in NFL preseason and still get cut.

So, overall I’d like to see more from all those guys involved before it’s clear Price isn’t a solid depth RB or that one of the other guys can find holes and make solid runs against ACC defenses. None of this includes LQA who I’ve been saying since last year was going to be an absolute stud. Wait till we start throwing to him too.

This 100%. I assume throwing to LQA will commence in West Lafayette

price had 1 carry from inside the 10. so toss that.. then had a 4 2 5 6 yd runs
and the last drive lost a yd.

3 of the runs had zero chance of a decent hole

My group was talking about how smart it was for OG to avoid contact when it was clear he wasn't going anyplace. His work load is only going to increase so there is no reason to take unnecessary hits in a game like that.
