Rene looked slow on the punt return and couldn't get outside. Not sure why we have him returning.

First drive killers:

-It wasn't a killer but Smith was untouched for 5 yards and then ran into our OL's back instead of making a cut for a bigger gain. He stopped himself.

-Trudo's hold. He seems to be getting a lot of penalties.

-Chibane not recognizing the twist which is an issue SU's OL has had every year. And Nassib not dumping it off to PTG and taking a sack.

-Nassib being impatient and forcing a throw to Lemon instead of waiting for West. If he waited we might have had a long FG attempt. Also on the play our WRs (West and Sales) were jammed and took forever to get off the LOS.

RU TD drive mistakes:

-3rd and 5 and we rushed only 3 guys (again) and he runs for the first down.

-Next play we decide to blitz and get burnt for a big play. It appeared that we were playing zone and Reddish drifted in with the outside WR. BTW why do we never bring pressure from the outside? Our DEs are inside and we bring LBs up the middle. It seems like our blitz is always picked up with ease.

2nd drive mistakes:

-Nassib overthrew Sales

-2nd and 10 we run the ball for a loss. That is a passing down. Stop trying to make a manageable 3rd down and get a first there!

-Nassib and Lemon cannot connect but we are bailed out with a PI.

-Sales and Nassib were not on the same page forcing a punt. On the play Nassib was under center. Not sure why and I wonder if that aided to the pass being mistimed.

BTW why does it seem like all of our pass patterns are to run 5 yards and then turn? Not too hard to defend that.

Odd play missed by the refs. On the punt return they called a late hit on RU which was justified. But another RU player (#24) took three separate swings at our players and not a damn thing was called.

3rd drive killers:

-Nassib HAS to protect the ball. Enough is enough already. Instead of a sack at the 29 we were at the 39.

-A 50 yarder, really Marrone? He raves about Loeb all the time so why run it to set up a 50 yarder for your FG kicker who hasn't hit anything over 42 in two seasons? Wouldn't you try and pass for 10 yards there?

4th drive was a 3 and out where we ran the ball three times. I can't blame the first two but 3rd and 3 isn't a running down.

RU drive Wilkes missed a tackle turning a 3rd and 4 into a 1st down. Seriously how is he better than Eskridge or Desir? Those guys make plays.

Reddish missed a tackle but did a good job coming back and forcing a fumble.

Davis made a big play on a bubble getting a TFL.

We had 43 yards with 6:33 left in the half. Ouch.

5th drive:

-Lemon had a big 3rd down catch. BTW RU the last few years has cheated in covering our short passing game. They are all over our WRs trying to deflect the pass with an arm around our WR.

-Nassib had a big run for a first down on 3rd and 7. However I think he made a mistake pre snap. Lemon had no one over him and ended up running a dig. That play should have been switched to a corner route. I noticed this before the snap at the game. He should too. In addition Sales was wide open for a big play but Nassib was too buys looking the ther way. It should have been a TD. If Nassib can't make these reads he shouldn't play.

Time management 101: if a team is backed up and you have 3 TOs use them and try and get the ball back. I don't blame him after first down as you do not want RU to get a first down and score themselves. But after 2nd down and it 2nd and 12 call TO. That leaves you 36 seconds to make a 3rd down stop and get the ball back. RU was at their 22. Worst case they get a first down and then run the clock out. They only had 1 TO. They were not scoring. So why not try and score yourself? We should have had the ball at mid field with 25 seconds.

1st drive:

-Pugh started it off with a false start. It seems like he gets a lot of these.

-Lemon had a drop.

-Big 3rd down catch by Lemon.

-False start by Hickey on 2nd down hurts.

-Nassib dump off to PTG goes incomplete. Nassib was not patient we coulda had West for a bigger gain. He needs to do a better job with these reads.

-3rd and 12 a run?!!! What a call. We deserved the blocked kick. Even if we are sacked we are in FG range. No excuse for that call. Oh and yes that was a low kick. Come on Krautman. The guy didn't even jump.

2nd drive:

-Poor return plus a block in the back puts us in a hole.

-Nice RAC by Stevens to get us out of the hole.

-On a 3rd down, Nassib actually makes a decent move in the pocket to get a first down.

-2nd and 7 we run the ball for 2 yards. Again why are we not trying to pass on 2nd and long? You are guaranteeing a 3rd down there. We should be avoiding them.

-Nassib fumbles AGAIN! He had the ball away from his body. No excuses for a SR QB to be like this. Tuck the away. Stop acting like Dave Krieg.

-Coleman dropped a TD. Hit him in the facemask. Good thing RU WRs have no hands.

-3rd and 6 and RU runs the ball for a first down. We were in a 3-3-5 but still no excuse. Sharpe slanted away from the play. Spruill took him self out of the play by taking an awful angle. The two safeties were no where to be found. It was 3rd and 6 with man coverage on the three WRs. RU was at the 21 yard line. No need to be so deep. They weren't even in the TV screen, What.

-Dropped pass by Jefferson missed another TD.

Rene misplayed a KO and it goes by him for a touchback. Thank God. Seriously why does he even try and return blass were we should take a touchback? Sorry but this kid shouldn't play at all.

3rd drive:

-Nassib dumps it to Smith missing a wide open Lemon. Again Nassib is not making the reads. No excuse at this point in his career.

-We run and 2nd and 6. Again at best we have a 3rd and short. Need to pass it here. Instead we lose yards.

-False start Trudo makes it 3rd and 12.

-Nassib ahs time and then is smacked on a sack. Not sure if the WRs were open but a dump off to Smith was certainly there. Again bad play by Ryan.

-Rene fields the punt on a bounce. He had blocking set up on the outside but for soem odd reason cuts it back into the RU coverage. He needs to sit. BTW how the is that not overturned? It is obvious that his elbow is down. The Big East owes us an apology. Why even have instant replay if you cannot get it right?

-Reddish with poor coverage but Nova overthrew his man.

-3rd and 9 we only rush 4. Diabate for soem reason leaves the TE who scores in front of the safeties.

Rene with a good return sets us up in good field position.

Next drive:

-Two completions get us down field quickly and then West can't pull a ball in.

-Bad pass by Nassib brings up 3rd and 10.

-Nassib throws an INT. Lots of issues with this play. First West dances then goes up three yards and turns. It is 3rd and 10, What. That is total garbage. Second Stevens falls down but he was only running a 3 yard pattern, What. Lemon was running a 7 yard pattern, What. I can understand Nassib not noticing Greene, as he left Stevens, but not the other defender. Even if Greene was not there we only get 7 yards. Also if Nassib had read the D properly he would have gone to Sales the one WR who ran a pattern past the first down marker. He would have been open. Then going back to Lemon there was no one within 8 yards of him pre snap. The pattern took him into the D. He runs a seam or a corner and he gets the first down with ease. Nassib needs to change that route.

-Luckily Harrison drops a TD. Good thing their WRs suck or this woulda been a blow out.

Next drive:

-Nice catch and run by Sales, followed by another two Sales catches.

-Nassib could not connect with lemon, West, and Lemon.

-We get bailed out with a PI on 4th down.

-We now have 1st and goal from the 2 with 8:16 left and no Tank. Marrone said he was trying to score quickly. There is 8:16 left bozo. Most important thing to do is score. Not to save 45 seconds.

-Lemon drops a TD

Nice quick TD and 2 point conversion.

Davis and Diabate both miss a chance at a TFL. Luckily two plays later on 3rd and 2 we make a stop for a loss. Of note here is the RB was being held up and not one SU player tried to punch the ball out. Do we even teach this?

Why on God's green Earth did we not try and block the punt? Instead we set up for a return with Rene standing at the 20 (and caught it at the 10)? That is ing ridiculous. There is 2:56 left we need a big play.

Horrible read by Nassib trying to force it to Stevens and gets picked. Both outside WRs would have been open.

West was open deep and Nassib made an awful throw nearly getting another INT. Huge missed opportunity.

Rene looked slow on the punt return and couldn't get outside. Not sure why we have him returning.
Some people seemed to start the year with a bias against Rene because we spent the better part of last season not returning any punts. Didn't agree with that pre-judgment, but he doesn't look like an asset after half a season. Hate the "north-south" cliche, but for heaven's sake, man: turn upfield! He danced too much (again) and left a number of positive yards out there.

Agree, seemed overly cautious. Then again, we've been burned a lot of times in similar situations; I understand the desire to keep the clock running and eliminate any possibility that Rutgers has a halftime lead.
...
.

What jumps out more than anything (ok, except for turnovers) is that every one of our receivers is good for a drop per game. None of those guys is helping out the shaky quarterback on a regular basis. This has been killing us this year.

I still dont think there is a replay guy at any of these games.

they fail to review calls or mess up 50% of the ones they do review..
