Can someone please recommend me a bar in Manhattan to watch the Seton Hall game on Wednesday?

In the past I've heard the Town Tavern and the Village Pourhouse. Where is the NYC Syracusefan game-watching headquarters this year?

Thanks very much.

Pourhouse is usually it, but i've been less than impressed with them this year. We went there for the GW game and usually for Cuse games they have free bud light drafts for the first 30 minutes before a game but they didn't do that. Also not a big contingent of Syracuse fans. But they do have a nice selection of beer and good wings.

You have 3 choices depending upon where you are in the City.

Village Pourhouse (11th and 3rd) -- This is still the official game watching spot according to the Big AppleOrange. As Bnoro says, they do have an open bar for bud lights and well drinks 30 minutes prior to tip. I'm not sure why they wouldn't give him the deal, but I have never had an issue getting the special. They give us the whole back bar area with sound and more times than not it is very full during big east season (not as much during out of conference games and during the holidays). For the bigger games, it's jam packed. There is normally a good board contingency who are regulars at this bar including myself, the mayor (NYCFan), SUMBA, stopcoolio, king Otto, etc. I think they have slipped a bit this year but we have normal, had the run of this place for big east games.

East End Bar and Grill (upper east side) --I can't speak to the crowd there as the only time I have been there was for the Pinstripe Bowl pregame. I have heard that they get nice crowds for the bigger night football games but not sure about bball

Bar 29 (29th and 3rd) -- I know they have a giant inflatable Otto outside during bball games but I can't say I have ever been in there during a game watch.

I prefer the Pourhouse but maybe some other board members can vouch for the other spots.

They didn't give me the deal last time because (they claimed) Stanford was having a heisman watching party even though there were like 10 Stanford fans there. The waitress also took 20 minutes until this was confirmed. I just think they screwed us over but whatever.

Quite honestly, the mayhem that was Santacon screwed that particular game watch up more than anything. And you are right, that was undoubtedly the worst game watching experience there since we moved there from the Hill (30th and 3rd). They put us back in the far back lounge area for a bit but we got swallowed up pretty quickly by Santas and slutty elves. To be fair, they usually hook us up pretty well but you are right, not that particular night.

I hope to make it for SHU or DePaul.

Yep, forgot about Santacon as well. I was there for the Wake game which was pretty awesome even though most of the crowd headed out before the comeback. It's a nice spot to watch.

I went to Bar 29 a fair bit last year. Usually pretty good, though not much int he way of drink specials that I remember.

Went there for the GW game this year, and it was different. Usually we get sound during the game, but there was music playing instead of the sound. I don't think I''ve been to the pourhouse for a game yet, but some friends of mine have and they keep going back, so they seem to enjoy it.

Wings beer and SU basketball against a weak BE team like the Hall.

Good recap Cuseman. By the way, we'll have a new (former regular) addition for the rest of the reason---got to see BrianOrange and PhillyDad tonight down in Philly and BrianOrange will be joining us the rest of the season at Pourhouse now that the NFL is winding down. And glad you brought up Santacon---they actually did do the 30 min open bar for GW but moved us into the front for that because they had a DJ for the Santacon thing in the regular spot in the back.

Regarding Bar 29 , I went there for an early game last year (before Pourhouse became the official bar), and didn't like the setup of the bar for an organized gamewatching event. There are only 2 TV's up front, and if you are not sitting right at the bar, it's tough to see them from the back/(side) tables.

And to answer the OP eao1115's original question, Village Pourhouse is definitely the Syracusefan bar---besides the 5 or 6 regular board attendees mentioned by Cuseman78 that go there for most of the games, you also have another 5-10 that pop in from time to time (Gotothehole, jlfelds, BayonneOrange, Frozen, njcuse, the other StopColio, just to name a few off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are others I have have never met). Definitely stop in and join us on Wednesday--we should have a great crowd for "7th-ranked" Seton Hall (rpi) on Wed. If you want to stop over and say hello we are usually right at the main back bar by 6:30pm. (and that goes for bnoro and Knicks411 as well)

East End does a really good job. The bigger the game, the bigger the crowd, but they always have the sound on and have a good beer and wings special for the game. Plus they also have the giant inflatable Otto outside.

I think I'll plan on dropping by after work. Will definitely come over and say hello if I do.

2 for 1 tequila shots during halftime. I knew I loved this board for a reason
