My father ended up having a plate in his head, one leg was shorter than the other the result of a coma and 6 months in a full body cast from a crash. His doctor pointed his foot downwards to keep him from racing while in the cast. It didn’t work keeping him from racing and he invented and rebuilt his race car with hand controls for the accelerator and brake which ended up being used for paraplegics.
