Again, you assume sports is like the business world. The two are not at all equal. Call it old school all you want but I highly doubt, and i of course could be wrong, that the players are yelled at in practice every single day. This is made up by a ton of positive reinforcement. I kind if look it like the military as well. We were lucky if we were just yelled at, especially in bootcamp! 13 weeks on Parris Island wouldn't be the same without it! But when your life and the life of those around you depend on getting it right, you do all you can to make sure you get it right. The same basic principles apply to sports teams, they depend on each other for success. In business it is not at all this way. Even though there is a concept of a team, they are individuals working specific rolls to maximize the profit of a company.Often times, certain departments are left out purposefully to push something though causing those departments to be reactive instead of proactive. As a result, companies never truly maximize their potential. But getting that many people to work together across the globe is next to impossible so they do the best job they can. I rarely yell at my team because it is not conducive to building a team culture in an office environment. If I was a drill instructor or a sports coach, I would absolutely incorporate yelling into training. They need to instill that passion that you can only get from pride. They need to build that teamwork to wear everyone is working as one. All they mainly have is short term goals of completing each play successfully. Two very different worlds, two very different approaches.
