Even Coleman.

All players that can either drive to the hoop and draw fouls, gbinije and mali are both impressive finishers, or players that can bring down second chances and draw the defender into the air. We have bigger, stronger guards and the perimeter presence that will open up lanes and cuts to the basket. Unless hasheem thabeets chillin defending the paint, i see no reason why we can't rely on the players we have to draw fouls and put pressure on Gonzaga.

Richardson is the opposite of an impressive finisher.
Seen numerous acrobatic finishes from him throughout the course of the season, the bigger point though is that he draws fouls. As a direct team to team comparison, he's made 102 free throws while Gonzagas leading guard has only been to the line 105 times.

Huh? Guess I'm not watching the same games you are? :noidea:
He's drawn a ton of fouls (mostly on the other team) on his drives, and hit a few circus-shot finishes for an And-1 opportunity.

Even if he gets a charge or 2, it's still worth it to have him drive in hard, particularly against the Zags, as we want to get Sabonis into early foul trouble, if possible.

DCs issue is his hands. He has hands of stone, and clutches the ball so hard it's no wonder he is lacking the touch to shoot around bigger Cs. He reminds me of Terrence Roberts in that regard. His double and triple clutches to gain a grip usually work against him, but I have seen steady improvement. Here is hoping that he can stay out of foul trouble and show some of what you are looking for. He seems to get better within games if he gets enough run. Will we have the luxury of time though?

Both Malachi and Gbinije are "slashers". They can and do get to the basket and when they get in the lane, because of their height, they cause all sorts of problems.

And because they are both relatively effective outside shooters, M2M defenders have to play up on them. Which, as anyone with any basketball knowledge knows, is the key to getting down the lane or into the baseline at the edge of the backboard.

He is already quite adept at drawing contact at the rim and is improving as a finisher with experience. Think about this for a second; he is a volume 3-point shooter and doesn't have the ball in his hands at the end of games, yet he gets to the line more often per 40 minutes than anyone on the team.

Richardson was much better at finishing earlier on in the year. Lately he has had a lot of problems with bigger defenders. He also is a little over dramatic at times trying to show contact, when I don't think he needs to be. Definitely could get to the line even more. He has a nice first step, but slows up a lot on his way to the rim searching for contact.
