Orange Nation celebrates one of our greats!

Former Orange standout and current assistant coach, Gerry McNamara ’06, receives the Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence at the 48th Annual Hardwood Banquet.
You won’t want to miss these evening highlights:
  • Silent auction of Orange sports memorabilia
  • Player autograph session
  • Opportunity to bid on having players sit at your table
Proceeds benefit the Conrad McRae Endowed Men’s Basketball Scholarship and the men’s basketball program.

oh boy here we go...
Trust me...

What criteria are used to pick the winner?

Are they running out of candidates for this award? Can someone provide a list of past winners for some perspective?

This list is a who’s who of syracuse basketball wow! The criteria for the award seems quite generic so no concerns with GMAC on that list at all. For contributions to Syracuse Basketball he definitely belongs in this list.

if you're going to create a scholarship for endowed men, you have to name it for billy celuck

I'd say Big Dick, er, I mean Big Rick.

I've never attended the Hard Wood Banquet. For some reason I had always thought it had something to do with basketball, never would have guessed their might be requirements for admission.

To be fair, a quick glance suggests that he's one of the youngest recipients (other than Conrad, sadly and obviously).

But whatever, good for him. Some of us are always going to perceive a little favoritism even when there's none to see, and the rest are just going to be rightfully happy for the guy.
