When we fired coach SS (which I agree with) there should be no real reason why we didn't have our guy ready. Why fire a guy before the end of the season if you don't have a solid plan. If the plan was Frost then we really screwed the pooch. And to offer him only 1.2 million is a complete joke. Hopefully some of the facts are being left out and we don't know the whole story, but if true it shows complete and utter incompetence by the AD. You either want to be playing with the big boys or you don't no big name coach comes to Syracuse for 1.2 million bucks. We look like we are running a JV program sad.

Syracusefan.com - We're nothing if we're not redundant.

Imagine if all the activity from the last few days was contained in the All Inclusive SU Coaching thread.

That thread would only be about 500 posts away from passing the All Inclusive Rutgers Dumpster fire thread.

I almost want to scream this, but I'll try the calm approach another time...

You can't hire someone until the job is open. This is not fantasy land, you don't search, interview, and hire a coach WHILE you still have a coach employed. This is also not Georgia, we don't just pick who we want as coach and expect them to come running. We identified a match, his demands did not match up with our expectations. We move on and evaluate other candidates.

Redundant maybe, but as a 20 year season ticket holder and somebody who travels across the country to watch this team, watching a football program who is not doing what is needed to be competitive is becoming redundant.

You really need to read the links in these threads.

Please stop rolling with the 1.2m. The more we say it the more people will harp on it and need to be corrected. Too much energy wasted. 1.8-2m for a coordinator is not crazy. Sounds like it was backloaded to try to get a longer commitment. Then Frosty comes back with his 2 years garbage.

You are absolutely right you can't hire somebody until the job is open, however you don't Fire somebody and not have a couple of solid back up plans ready to interview and have a solid idea that somebody will take the job and get out on the recruiting trail asap. We only have until December 13th for recruiting it's time sensitive . No we arnt Georgia or LSU but you can't act like Colgate either.

I don't have any issue with what you said. I may disagree, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Just wish you had posted it in one of the other 8 threads running full speed ahead that already have this same sentiment posted dozens and dozens of times.

Don't understand the Coyle witchhunt all over this board. Coyle did have solid backup plans open.. he had two people on campus the first possible weekend he could. Plan A decided to be a doosh and demand a 2 year contract so we're on to plan B. How do we know that Plan B isn't playing a game on Saturday so Coyle can't do anything until Sunday? Are we just suppose to pick someone because he's available now instead of Sunday? That seems like a great way to determine how 2omm dollars over 5 years will be spent.

Coyle must have been all over that 1.2 leak out of Oregon. First 2 years and then this shiite

I think the bottom line is we are all passionate about Syracuse football and we all just want this program to finally turn it around. Nobody is talking college football playoffs good just lets be competitive and go to some bowl games and God forbid make the top 25 every once in awhile. So when people read some of this stuff it is more then a little aggravating.

The sad thing isn't people getting upset/angry over a "potentially" uninspiring hire

The sad thing is that outside of this board, hardly anyone else cares who we hire.

That's why this hire is so important.

We will know soon enough what UCF paid. As a public institution they are subject to FL FOI laws. Then we will know the terms.

Because you know that there was not or is not a solid plan. You base you entire rant on message boards and third part reporting which has already proven to be wrong. And again - none of the "big" name coaches are coming to SU unless they are old names desperate to get back in (e.g., Terry Bowden type).

Nothing says steppingstone let me outta here ... like a 2 year contract. Give me a break. You can't sign a guy to a 2 year contract.
Yep, he really didn't want to be here. I don't care if we're a steppingstone but he can't recruit on a 2 year deal.

The issue is that we shoulda known that before firing Shafer if he's who we wanted and has plan b lined up. That stuff is supposed to happen through channels way earlier. It's actually one of the things a search firm does (works with coaches agents on what deals would have to look like should jobs become open)

Frost wasn't the consensus top choice of the board. Many didn't like his lack of HC experience and connections to the Northeast.

As long as we don't hire Chris Ash or a career defensive assistant then Coyle has done well. Hire Ash he has epic failed.
