I felt like this was the Rutgers game all over again. Why in a close game with a QB who struggles to throw, WRs who struggle to get open and catch, and an OL which struggles to pass block and is injured do we throw the ball 37 times while only running 29 times (including sacks) with Tucker/Shrader?

Why after a 54 yard run by Tucker do we go to the air which resulted in an INT? Have Shrader run it if Tucker needed a breather.

Why after tying it at 7 and having the ball did we call 2 bland runs and try to kill clock vs taking momentum and trying to run the normal O?

Why after running it on our 1st play of the 2nd half did Tucker run it only TWICE over the next 19 plays? I don't care if Clemson is stacking the box you make them stop you before you move away from your strength.

Shrader needed to run the ball more today. He has been such a weapon but only had 7 "rushes" for 6 yards. We needed to put him in more running situations. We played into Clemson's hands by throwing it so much.

Shrader's throws to the sidelines or down the field on the sidelines are really really bad. He needs to either throw it in the middle of the field or on the run. That limits the O quite a bit but it is the only chance of passing success. We needs throws behind the drawn up LBs or in the seems to keep the Ss honest. It sucks to be limited but we cannot stretch the field horizontally with him at QB. Get him on the move so he can either run it or throw it. Give him play action passes in the middle of the field. What we tried to run today doesn't fit his skill set.

we dont know how he was physically

Good point but he looked fine scrambling out of pocket he just never ran downfield. It’s weird. Gilbert is weird

he made at least 1 trip to the owie tent during the game

Shrader looked like he was running in mud. Not sure if it was Clemson’s defense being faster, Shrader being beat up and slower, or both.

His offense scored 7 more points against Clemson than #1 ranked Georgia did.

This. I think maybe is nursing some sore spots, and, they don’t want him knocked out for the rest of the season. He’s taken some big hits already this year
My biggest question, is Tommy no longer on the team? Why could he situationally not been used to throw the ball at least occasionally.

If Shrader was hurt even more reason to run it with Tucker and Adams. Shrader was scrambling nearly every pass play from the blitz. That is still “running” around.

Here’s the thing. We have a pretty darn good “backup” in Devito. You have a chance to beat Clemson at home and turn your season around. You do what you have to do to win. You don’t play to protect your QB at all costs as if you don’t have another option. And if Shrader was that compromised, he shouldn’t have been out there.

We were saying this last nigh5 at the game. PutTommy in for a couple of series andthrow Clemson off.Who knows, take them by surprise

shraders mobility helps the skill guys and the lineman

Because they overthink things. they knew Clemson was going to stack the box and stop the run so Gilberts game plan was to throw the ball. That’s their way of thinking they are tricking Clemson.

that said if Shrader could throw a routine pass the game plan would’ve been fine. Guys were open he just can’t hit them and when he does they drop it.

you are complaining about throwing it too much yet are also complaining about the run calls?

“Why after tying it at 7 and having the ball did we call 2 bland runs and try to kill clock vs taking momentum and trying to run the normal O?” Are you saying you didn’t like the type of run call ? I’m confused

We were clearly trying to kill the clock instead of trying to advance the ball. That was my issue not that we ran the ball. There was too much time to think that way. We had momentum, use it.

I'm assuming Dino instructed Gilbert to go into turtle mode. Weak sauce again.
