Girard leading us in rebounds!

Coach told Joe - go out there and EAT!!!

Also, that old man YMCA game works better with a little junk in the trunk.

But JG3 takes a lot of crap on this board. And I know he has played poorly at times. But last night, when Buddy had to sit, and he was able to slide over to the 2 spot, he made three great plays in a row that really set the tone for the team playing beyond just Buddy hitting shots. When he plays well you can see the weight of expectations lift off his shoulders. Everything about his demeanor changes. I suspect he will give us many more moments like that over his career, and I love to cheer for that kid.

He's a good piece for us and a fun player to watch develop. His shot selection has really improved from the beginning of the season.

Joe has done a good job anticipating the long caroms and tap-outs after our opponents miss a shot. . I noticed that on more than one occasion he positioned himself near the FT line after a long shot was attempted.
Every possession counts in these tourney games, and little adjustments like this help.

I think when assessing Joe's game there needs to be some acknowledgement that he's been pressed into bigger roles earlier than expected, and while he's done a good job overall, sometimes his game isn't well suited for what's asked of him. When he can play comfortably, take good shots, pick his spots with the ball, hustle on the defensive end and rebounding, he looks so much more confident.

There is a bunch of us who have wanted to see him at the 2 guard position for a few minutes a half, and against pressure defenses - he looked good there last night.

JG3 is a natural 2. People get way too into height for position, but we can have a good thing for stretches with 6’5” Kadary at PG and 6’1” Girard at SG.

I am 100% behind this comment. This kid is taking too much nonsense from some members on this board. I suspect some of the ones doing the insulting could stand to lose some pounds too. Joe is beefier for sure. But he can play

The only thing that should be criticized from his game last night was his ball security. It was absolutely horrible. He has to be stronger with the basketball and not get picked

My comment was a backhanded compliment... Or shortest player led us in rebounds! Along with leading in assists and hitting a couple clutch shots when they still counted.

Girard had a hell of a game. I'm glad we have him!

he deserves credit for the rebounds...those long 3 bricks can go anywhere and he fought hard for them...griffin q and marek need to do better inside...first half SDSU was getting a ton of second chance points. cant happen.

If I wasn’t clear, I wasn’t being critical of your post. I was merely pointing out JG3s contribution, and wasn’t sure which thread to put it in.

No harm done... We do heap a lot of abuse on Girard in the form of heckling. There is an element of truth, but mostly he worked very hard to get stronger and his added bulk is noticable. Maybe it made things a little harder for him in some ways on the court.

But, we would have heckled him for decades if he didn't work hard to put on the extra mass... Anyone for an off-season fishing joke?

He has been super valuable, and if we didn't have all-world-stud-in-the-making Richmond on the bench behind him, Girard would get a lot more credit than he does.
