While we didn't win we most certainly didn't embarrass ourselves. The kids played hard and with only 1 TD in 4 redzone possessions hurt the final score we played well overall. Our defense simply didn't have the horses to stop Florida State but we got them to 3rd down and their athletes made plays.
I give Shafer credit for going for the TD late in the 2nd quarter and trying to win rather than take the 3 points for the final score. Our team just isn't as talented as Florida state or Notre Dame. We need to regroup and go 4-2 in our last 6 games.
We are 2-4 and should be 3-3 so now instead of only winning 1 of 3 from Duke, @Pitt, @BC we need 2 to have a chance at 6-6.

How should we be 3-3? Just curious

This team can win. AJ Long provides the on field spark necessary to win. Lester provides the play calling within the team's skillset. Going Bowling is very realistic. This team can give Clemson a run for the money if they play like the did with Long in there. Clemson is not as good as last season. Five remaining games are very winnable.

Obviously we are all well past moral victories, and we still basically got blown out, yet this is probably the absolute best we can feel after a loss. I was really worried with everything that happened, 3 straight blow out losses, qb out for year, offensive coaching turmoil, etc, that there was a chance that the wheels could come off. It's good to see the guys are still bought in and they continued to fight hard for Shafer. Even late in the game they kept playing hard. Now we just need to get some of our injured guys back, get Long some more experience, and close the season strong. There are 5 very winnable games, unfortunately were going to need 4 to go bowling.

  • The bad penalties and dropped paseses really hurt. Stop the dumb penalties, hold onto the ball and this game could have shocked everyone. Good effort all in all. Ride the wave with confidence Orangemen.

I have a friend that is an FSU fan and he emailed me yesterday asking my thoughts. I told him it is going to get ugly real fast and explained why I felt that way, despite being a typically optimistic SU fan. After the game, I emailed him and told him how optimistic I was about the rest of the season and the future or SU football, mostly because of the play of some true freshmen. He asked if I was kidding, that FSU held the ball at the end of each half otherwise it would have been worse, gracious of him. I reminded him that two of Jameis' passes should have been picked and they lead to 14 points.

Would love to make my cousin eat some crow against Clemson.

It would be nice to nice to get through a game without a bunch of serious injuries.

we were competitive. lester was an improvement in play calling. however, where is aam when we are in the red zone, and why do they try to run him outside. but what really bothers me most is the conservative choices. why on earth do you go for fg when you are inside the 8yd line in a game like this???he went for it later in the game but he should have done it twice before that. we could not beat them with our own game, we needed to take the gambles. the receivers were better and long seemed to add a spark. i still see only one more win. unless the red zone improves.

I meant by preseason expectations we should be 3-3 after our first 6 games. We should have beaten Maryland. I thought ND and FSU were sure fire losses preseason.
