Last night was probably as bad as any game in recent memory. NC would get 2 or 3 chances every time down the court. Very frustrating. Here are a few of my thoughts on this.
-The zone itself does not lend to superior defensive rebounding which we all know.
-Lack of bulk means our guys do get pushed around.
-Both our centres have a problem hanging on to the ball when they get a chance.
-(and a trend that is increasingly noticeable in recent years) we do not push the ball up the court on offense even when we do get a rebound. Opposing teams are not concerned about quickly getting back on defense as a result of this and thus they will send two or three guys to the offensive glass. Maybe this is due to Frank's lethargic pace or perhaps the coach wants it this way. As a comparison, how often do we crash the offensive glass with three guys?
